Elizabeth
Edward I think for the boys one.

SolarPanel · 16/04/2011 19:24
  1. Elizabeth
  2. Alice
  3. Eliza
  4. Isla
  5. Elsa

I love all the boys names, they're really strong classic names :) Henry too similar to Holly IMO, but the others all fit well.

ChestnutSoup · 16/04/2011 19:26

I like Elsa for a DD. Goes well with Holly too. Alice is really popular now, and Isla seems on the rise. I'm not a fan of Elizabeth, but quite like Beth as a shortening.

Not sure of boys names. I only have DDs (thankfully, as DH and I could only ever agree on girls names!). At a push I think I prefer Alexander of your shortlist but would shorten to Al or Xander, rather than Alex.

Good luck!

pirateparty · 16/04/2011 19:27

Alice and Edward.

meditrina · 16/04/2011 19:28

They're all lovely!

From your list, for a girl I'd go for Alice or Elizabeth, and for a boy Edward, Frederick or Alexander.

flopsy1974 · 16/04/2011 20:36

From your girls list I would go for Alice (DD's middle name) or Elizabeth - both gorgeous names.
From your boys list definately Edward - would have been my last DD's name if she had been a girl.
All timeless, classic names - you can't go wrong.

tagliolini · 16/04/2011 20:37

Isla and Frederick.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 16/04/2011 20:38

Love Alice and Elizabeth.
Love Tristan, Edward and Frederick (but hate Freddie and it may be inevitable). Don't like Henry.

Maternelle · 16/04/2011 20:59

I like Alice and Isla
And Tristan.

treas · 16/04/2011 21:07

Elizabeth is great as so many nicknames to chose from. Edward also has potential for a range of nicknames, personally I like Ted.

notanumber · 16/04/2011 21:48

For boys, I would discount Henry because 'Holly and Henry' is just too too cutesy. Holly and Alexander is gorgeous - my definite favourite.

For girls, Holly and Alice is lovely.

Kaekae · 16/04/2011 21:49

Alice -ok slightly bland
Elsa - like it but wouldn't use it
Isla dh favourite - popular, ok
Elizabeth/ Eliza - live Eliza but its so now, everyone has one or is having one!

Henry - Yes, Love
Alexander -ok
Tristan -ok don't love
Edward -no all Edwards have large heads. But I like Ted.
Frederick - ok don't love.

notanumber · 16/04/2011 21:55

treas mentioned the nicknames thing as a positive for Edward and Elizabeth. I would actually seriously consider not using them because of this.

Holly doesn't really lend itself to any legitimate nicknames (I'm not including Holl, Hollyberry, Hollydollybunchkin etc. Legitimate, I said Wink).

It seems a bit unbalanced to give her sibling a name which has trillions of variants (Libby, Liz, Beth, Bess, Betty etc)

Perhaps that isn't an issue at all, I don't know. Just thought I'd mention it.

Rhubarbgarden · 16/04/2011 21:59

Eliza and Tristan

pirateparty · 16/04/2011 22:33

All Edwards have large heads?!! Literally or do you mean are boastful? Have I missed something Kaekae? That might be the most random reason to not pick a name I have ever heard!

pilates · 17/04/2011 17:57

Eliza and Henry are my favourites.

All your names are really nice except Tristan.

jellybeans · 17/04/2011 18:07

Elsa

Alexander
