after 3 weeks we have finally agreed on Sofia Amara. Both arabic names, Sofia meaning beautiful and Amara meaning everlasting! Yey! had been struggling for ages.

what do people think, do they flow? well we thought so anyway.

doesnt feel like her name yet though as she has been baby and lil sis for all this time. do they eventually grow into the name? am sure of choice but name doesnt feel hers yet iykwim?

anyway am rambling now!

Lovely names well done!!
Sophia was on our shortlist for a girl, but we had a boy :)
We have only just named our DS after 10 days and i know exactly what you mean about 'growing' into their names, he has been lil brother or baby boy for so long when people say his name it sounds weird and I think 'who' lol.

It does suit him though and I know it will be HIS name soon! x

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 15/04/2011 02:11

It's absolutely lovely!

thumbwitch · 15/04/2011 02:23

Sounds fine, like it.

Mum2Pea · 15/04/2011 09:48

love the combination! gorgeous names!

candleshoe · 15/04/2011 09:50

Are you saying Sofia like: 'Sew - fee - ah' or ' Sew - fie - ah' ?

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2011 09:52

Exceedingly beautiful.

We had no problems naming dd but it still took months for it to 'fit'. I'd say her name and start a little thinking, 'is that really her?' We called her baby girl a lot. Still do and she's nearly 4.

shaunwinonaandsue · 15/04/2011 09:59

Lovely :) I'd swap them round though cos I know an Amara and she is absolutely gorgeous!

shmoz · 15/04/2011 10:07

Love Sofia, similar to our 1st choice (Zofia - pronounced Zof-ya, DPs mother's name)....DC was a DS, maybe next time!

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2011 10:56

I went to school with a Zofia. She was the feistiest, funniest person I've ever known.

kimdeal · 15/04/2011 11:09

Never commented on the names board - but this deserves comment! Absolutely gorgeous names and meanings. Well done. (Have part-ME background so get the meanings issue!)

burntsienna · 15/04/2011 11:37

Lovely names, but being honest I can't agree that they 'flow'. The two a's in the middle collide. When you have said the 'a' in Sofia you are brought up short by the first A of Amara which results in a sort of hiccup. Doesn't matter unless it bothers you, which clearly it doesn't.

vess · 15/04/2011 22:57

I thought the arabic name was Safiya... don't think Sofia is actualy arabic. It's nice, though.

LetThereBeRock · 15/04/2011 23:11

It's nice,but it doesn't flow well.
