Help me find a Welsh girls name

Hi all,
Baby due in 3 weeks time (girl, or so the sonographer said) and I'm still umming and ahhing over names. Get terrified with the huge responsibility of it all and end up dithering.
I am Welsh, DH is English, we live in Wales and in the not too distant future hope to move to a more Welsh (speaking) part of Wales. DS is Ioan and would like a Welsh girls name too. Further complicated by our surname being an adjective, with a strong 'Sh' at the start.

DH's current favourites, which I am also considering are:
Nia - too like Mia? Too short? Seems to need a middle name sorted to consider it properly
Rhiannon - love the nickname 'Non', but is it too boring?

Names we liked that have been discounted so far:
Menna - love this but makes a statement with our surname (Men are...)
Seren - don't like it with our surname, and seems to be crazily popular at the moment
Llinos - too Welsh (DH)
Gwen/Gwennie/Gwennon - just went off it (and my nan doesn't like it!)
Eira / Eirwen - meaning snow/white snow - due May, wrong time of year?

Any suggestions? I'm driving myself mad looking through lists

Angharad, Gwenllian, Rhian (if you want to avoid the 'non')
Best to get a welsh book of baby names, but bear in mind that the inlaws may struggle with some pronunciations. We were in a similar situation but live in England, and my oh couldn't cope with anything he couldn't spell.

If you like Non you could just call her that? I love it. St David's mother was St Non.

Manon? I love Menna and Manon but we also have the surname problem with Menna! And there is a Manon in the family already. Not that I have a girl yet but future planning...

Haf? Ceinwen? Anwen? Aeronwy?

SkinittingFluffyBunnyBonnets · 12/04/2011 17:57

Are you pale skinned? Eira or Erwen is stunning imo and if you're fair then chances are that baby will be too?

Another fan of Morganna or Morwen also love Guinevere....gosh...I want another DD so I can call her that! Grin

Arwen...beautiful too!

Not pale skinned I'm afraid - I'm almost olive skinned, in a South Walian kind of a way.. maybe not Eira then!

Some great suggestions though - I'm having a good reconsider of a few including Manon and Elin.

Morganna is out - FIL is obsessed with Morgan cars (beyond all reason) - he'd see it as a nod of approval. Also need to keep in mind their pronunciation (took them a while to get Ioan)

I have a Rhianna, didn't like the alternatives - Rhiannon, Rhian, although they are similar.
