I love the name Rogan and have only ever heard it used as a boys name - but i am in love with it as a girls name :) It's an Irish name - Middle name would be Lilly. (NOT Josh :P )

I prefer Regan.

greentig3r · 12/04/2011 14:34

Not keen, sorry.
Sounds a bit like "rogue 'un". :o
Not as bad as Brogan tho.

MrsDaffodill · 12/04/2011 14:35

Reminds me of Rogan Josh curry, sorry.

Would expect it to be a boys name, like Roger.

Jacksterbear · 12/04/2011 14:36

Sounds like a curry - rogan josh anyone?

BobbiDazzler · 12/04/2011 14:37

Rogan Josh. Dreadful.

Jacksterbear · 12/04/2011 14:37

X posts with Daff!

RogerMelly · 12/04/2011 14:37

I don't like it

Backinthebox · 12/04/2011 14:37

Curry.

overmydeadbody · 12/04/2011 14:37

It's a curry.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 12/04/2011 14:38

No.

Is it real?

shesparkles · 12/04/2011 14:40

It's a gaelic boy's name meaning "red-headed"

I knew one once, he was a wee shite!

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:41

Yes its real - long before the curry - already paid tribute to it in my OP but knew people wouldn't be able to resist.

Wouldn't the Australians confuse it with Bogan?

Alouiseg · 12/04/2011 14:44

Sounds like Rogaine hair restorer. Why dont you have Lily as a first name then Rogan as a middle?

MarieFromStMoritz · 12/04/2011 14:47

Sounds like 'bogey'.

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:47

hey ChickensHaveNoEyebrows, would you pronounce Regan as 'ay' or 'ee'?
I liked the 'ay' sounding one - but thats what the little girl from the Exorcist was called and that kid really creeped me out - then i came across Rogan :)

Sorry Saffa. Just looked it up and Blush it means the same as my DSs Gaelic name Rohan. Huge apologies!

However, it has got a masculine feel to it. Is there are slightly softer equivalent?

NorbertDentressangle · 12/04/2011 14:49

Are you sure you don't mean Logan or Rowan?

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:50

mmm good point about the 'Rogaine' - don't think it sounds like 'bogey' ? and then you can rhyme most names with something not quite nice.

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:54

I know what you mean about the 'masculine feel' but i have always liked girls names like that - would have also like Rowan or Blake for a girls name. PS - Names like Alison were originally boys names!

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:56

Haha Sticky - would hate to confuse the Australians! :)

I prefer 'Ree-gan' as the pronounciation. If DS2 had been a girl, it would have been his/her name Grin

BarbieLovesKen · 12/04/2011 14:58

Rogan is definately a boy's name though - I wouldnt name a girl this. I really like it but to me, (Irish, living in Ireland) its definately a surname.

It means red haired.

SaffaSouthernFairy · 12/04/2011 14:59

PS once heard of triplets being called Rogan, Regan and Reagan!!!!
