Do you know any Williams under the age of 50 who get called Willy?

Prove my DH wrong! This nn is putting him off the name William (which I have a sudden crush on), but I really don't think anyone would shorten it to Willy?? Am I wrong..?

There is a William in my ds's class who gets teased with Willy a fair bit actually. I think it is inevitable.

My nephew is William and he has been called Willy at school Sad, but then it is an obvious tease imo. What would bother me more than Willy is that the nickname Will is a verb - can you imagine calling "Will, will you..." Grin.

Dbro2 is Will - only ever called Willy by me to annoy him.

All the Williams I know are called William or Will.

I know a few but never heard of one called Willy before!

I know a number of Williams.

None are known as Willy. They are William, Will, Billy. They are aged from about 26 right down to 4yo. It's a lovely name and very popular.

As is Oliver so yes, they go together well.

DH is William and only his father calls him 'Willy' (or should that be 'Wully' - he's Scottish).

Otherwise, he's William or Will (and one of his brothers calls him Bill).

no. it's about as likely as a charles being called chuck or a henry being hank.

willy not a huge problem though. plenty of men are called micky or Willy. they don't seem to mind !

Indeed, all the Willies I've come across have been consensual. Smile

My DS is a William and we call him Wills or Will.
