Nathan anybody?

DH loves it and I hate all boy names so I cant decide! Anyone know any Nathans that have done well in life?? xx

I know a very handsome, friendly young man called Nathan in his 20s and one 8 yr old boy.
Lovely name and much easier to use than Nathaniel and a very nice meaning too.
How can you hate all boys' names? Is it because you want a girl?

Yes haha we both want a girl! DH is annoying me when trying to pick a boys name!

I like it! I have a cousin called Nathan who we sometimes call Naynay as a nickname

I have a Nathan; DH liked the name and chose it 10 years before we had him!

My friend is married to a Nathan - he is rather lovely.

We shorten our Nathan quite a lot - to pronounce "nayth", never "nat"!

I don't know what the meaning is, will go and look it up now!

I have a Nathan too, dp chose the name when I as pg with dd and we didn't know what we were having so we just used it when I had ds.

He is the only nathan in his year at school!

Nathan means "God has given" he was a prophet I think. I have a baby Nathan I had never considered it at all until DH suggested it but it has grown on me and suits my little one.

I really like it, but wouldn't use it because of the religious meaning.

dh really liked Nathan but I wasn't keen so it is now a middle name for ds2

I love it. All the Nathans I teach are lovely.
We wanted to use it but we are both N too and thought it might sound silly. Ethan is a similar name I think, but more ubiquitous.

Okay, to go against the tide, I dislike the name Nathan. But that's not the point. The point is that you appear to dislike the name Nathan.

He will be your son (unless she is your daughter of course ). You have to actively like his name, OP.

Take my advice, ditch Nathan (not because I don't like it, but because you don't like it) and keep thinking.

I have a Nathan (Nate for short most of the time though). It was the only boys name we both really loved.

If you want help, give us some your girls names longlist to give us a feel for the kind of names you're keen on.

Go on, I'll choose a name for your son, nae bother.

Notanumber makes a good point you really should love the name you choose it's like house hunting you should just know within minutes if it's the one. I kind of understand where you are coming from though I was desperate for a boy so just couldn't get excited about any girls names

I know a gorgeous, gorgeous little three-year-old Nathan.

Just felt the need to point out I only mentioned the meaning as someone else had mentioned it. The religious meaning means nothing to me or DH as we are completely non religious. Don't let it put you off if you like the name as I don't think religion instantly springs to mind when you hear it, its just a nice solid name. Not really unusual but also not too popular that there are three in evey class iyswim!

Don't really like Nathan, but there is Jonathan, which could be shortened to Nathan but is more flexible.
