DH2B and I are welsh and english, live in north wales, and have a surname very similar to Garside. Which girls name do you like best:

Helena
Seren

Faye

Carrie
Isabel
Hayley

(DH2B does not like Helena or Faye, but I am keeping them on the list, just in case he changes his mind).

The boys name will be either William or John.

I like Helena, Isobel and Carrie. Don't like Hayley or Seren.

Hayley is by far the best. Pretty and fairly unusual these days yet it isn't dated.

Thanks for the feedback so far. My DH2B likes Hayley and Seren best. I love the names Faye and Helena. According to DH2B Faye is too girly, and Helena does not suit us (DH2B considers it a posh name).

i like Seren, had never heard of it before MN, but it has cropped up on a few baby name threads recently.

My favourite is Hayley. It's really pretty.

Seren is lovely, my favourite by far.
Hayley my least favourite but thats because I knew a horrid Hayley

I think Hayley and Isabel go best with the surname; I love Faye but I don't think it fits with your surname.

Hayley is my least favourite. I have know far too many unpleasant Hayleys.

I much prefer Helena to Helen.

I'm slightly concerned that I have heard my mum talk about a Hayley, who she works with, and does not like. Although its does not have bad name associations for me, I dont want to upset my mum.

DH2B loves Seren, above all the others. Although I like the name, it just does not feel "right for us". So far I have ruled out Hayley, cannot bring myself to rule out Faye. Our surname is slightly different to Garside, and I think it goes, although DH2B also thinks Faye is too soft sounding for our surname.
