Why do celebrities call their children names like Harper and Riley?

What's that all about?

not sure but i adore harper.... husband hated it though.

riley is very popular in the usa...not sure why

Maybe because they are nice names, that they like? Also, in America they do have different names and naming trends than here

oh i love harper. people criticise celebs for choosing stupid or out there names (me included sometimes ) and say they will be teased in hgh school but they all go to school together anyway :o
also, some of these 'out there' celeb names arent real anyway (like dakota fanning's real name is Hannah, dakota is her middle name so she was 'blessed' ith a 'normal' name but wouldnt to stand out more), so some people who have normal names prefer more unusual names so everyone is different.

I would choose Dakota over Hannah Fanning - that's a horrible combo and emphasises the 'Fanny' type last name I'd never even notced till you combined it with Hannah

OP - no idea. I'm amazed you didn't go for 'Apple' et al. I know a couple of Rileys and Harper's not so bad.

I imagine they suffer the same baby name angst as everyone else except whatever they choose is poured over by millions in the papers.

to add to BibiBelle, you guys have the wise world of mumsnet to gently inform you that woodpecker or jetlag isnt a good baby name, whereas celebs usually have their minions running round after them too scared to say no to them and jjust tell them what they want to hear instead of giving them their actual opinion:o
