Would you call a baby Roxanne/Roxy?

DD has a friend called Roxy.

I started singing Roxanne loudly - dd thought I was mad.

Who would look at a baby girl and think 'ooh, I will call it Roxy'

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No. No I would not.

peeriebear · 04/04/2011 18:34

Not my cup of tea at all. Roxy music, wasn't there a Roxy in Jem and the Holograms? Very dated IMO but the girls parents obviously liked it :)

FoofffyShmoofffer · 04/04/2011 18:36

No not at all.

cookielove · 04/04/2011 18:36

I like the name Roxy, whether i would use it, i probably think not probably more down to dp and already having other names we like more. I would never use Roxanne though.

But looking after a child called Noah, 'who built the ark noah, noah' always popped up, but can you say that about lots of names. Each to there own

PaigeTurner · 04/04/2011 19:50

Yes I would, but already have a niece named Roxie (not Roxanne).

Only if I wanted her to be a burlesque dancer when she grew up.

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 19:54

I love it but unfortunately people would probably think child was named after stupid Eastenders character FFS Hmm

Folicacid · 04/04/2011 19:58

Even though I don't watch, the eastenders connection would put me off. In fact probably more so as I don't watch.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 04/04/2011 19:59

No.

littleducks · 04/04/2011 19:59

There was a girl when I was at my primary school called Roxanne, her sister was Candice.

She went on to become a mum at about 13. Grannies tutted and said it was brought on by the name Hmm.

NinthWave · 04/04/2011 20:01

I was nearly called Roxanne. Thankfully I avoided it Grin

There was a woman on the last seires of OBEM whose mother referred to her as-yet-unborn granddaughter as 'Foxy Roxy'

CharlieCoCo · 04/04/2011 20:03

Roxy is quite a nice name but more of a nn a teen/older person would call themself, i think as a baby its a bit iffy. my friend has a dog callled roxy now though so has put me off thinking of roxy as a human baby lol
