Girls names with a bit of attitude

I'm looking for names which aren't too typically girly and suggest a damsel in distress i.e Pansy, Poppy, Gabriella etc...these are all very nice but just aren't for me....according to me dh I'm looking for names with a bit of "spunk". We already have a Ben(Benjamin) and a Harry...oh and it's twin girls!! So i need two names :)

My two daughters are Roxanne and Rhiannon and they've always been tomboys.

FriskyMare · 08/04/2011 10:13

Love love love Orla and Seren, absolutely beautiful names.

Hi Valentina, like u I am looking for strong name, my daughter is called Stella, and unbelievably all 6 of the names Ive considered for my new arrival due in 5 days have been mentioned on this thread! Good confirmation I guess that others view the names in the same way as I. Therefore my shortlist and suggestions are:
Claudia
Sylvie
Anna
Camilla

Im as confused now as ever!! Good luck with naming your girls x

I have a Benjamin too and my daughter's name is Amelia which I think is feisty. My other favourite girl's name is Imogen which I think is feisty too and would go well with Amelia but also keeping your girls as individuals.

melhm · 08/04/2011 15:07

I have a Freya and believe me, you would never meet a stronger, more determined, louder or least likely to be bottom of the class ... I think by the time she is 18 she will either be prime minister or in prison..... perfect name!

LyraBelaqua · 08/04/2011 20:42

I too had a Lyra before Miss Dahl it is a fab name and the character in the Pullman books was the reason I used it. Lyra was just so wicked and cheeky and brave etc etc. My little Lyra certainly has spunk :)

Phoebe and Cleo are on my list for next baby. I think Cleo has lots of spunk!

LilMissMum · 09/04/2011 00:27

Tayla
Toni
Imogen
Isha

BigChiefOrganiser · 09/04/2011 00:53

Erin and Fran
Islay and Mhairi
Lucy and Jane (for some reason I find these no nonsense names)
Petra (greek rock) and Bader (arabic full moon)

singlemumsaresuper · 09/04/2011 12:13

Boudicca and Debora
Gael and Miriam

Vivianna · 09/04/2011 20:48

How about Vivienne, I admit I'm biased but I don't take shite from anyone, also its Angelina Jolies twin girls name, and the gorgeous one can't be wrong, no? xXx

all4u · 11/04/2011 10:34

Yes our dog was Beth so when we christened our dd Elizabeth it had to be Libby - and boy does she have attitude! Beth would not have been right for her (Little Women?). Elizabeth does give her scope to choose what she will be called at different stages n'ages but she assures us she is happy with Libby - at 13 anyway!

all4u · 11/04/2011 10:35

I agree but children at school are calling a Lyra 'Liar' so I've gone off it...

all4u · 11/04/2011 10:36

I'm sure you know but Seren is Welsh for Star!

TrudyVotion · 11/04/2011 19:37

How about Ramona and Regan? Wasn't Regan the baddie in Macbeth?

Can confirm that Imogen is a bad-ass name - DD was the victim of a little cow called Imogen Angry

TrudyVotion · 11/04/2011 19:43

Have read a few more of these now. Roxanne is fab, and Rowan. Not a fan of Ursula though, in fact it's just about my least favourite name ever - don't know why, just like I don't know why I don't like sultanas, it's one of those funny irrational things!

ValiumBandwitch · 11/04/2011 19:45

Lois

Cazwa · 11/04/2011 21:18

Stella. Not for the beer connotations but for the punchy sound to it. My daughter takes no sh*t.
