A friend is considering these for her soon to be DS. One as a first name and one as a middle name not sure which way round yet. she's concerned about how popular they are though. I don't know any of either name so said I'd get the Mumsnet opinion for her.
Thanks.

is your friend me 6 months ago? Grin They were my top 2 names if DD2 had been a boy.

In my experience of toddler groups, Edward is getting more and more popular, as well as Eddie and Teddy, but I've never met a Nathaniel. Hope that helps.

Nathaniel all the way!

Edward - Deadwood... and VERY popular where I live! (Just don't get it)

BikeRunSki · 30/03/2011 11:43

I only know 1 of each, both are about 2.5.

olddeuteronomy · 30/03/2011 18:22

Know 1 Edward aged 1 and an Eddie aged 2 (Edwin)

Never met a Nathaniel, I really liked this for ds but was vetoed. Prefer to Edward though both nice.

Nathaniel
Edward will just have people thinking she's a teenageTwilighttwerp.

I don't know any children of either, but grown ups of both. I'd choose Nathaniel Edward just because I love Nate as a nn and hate Ed/Ted

Greenwing · 30/03/2011 19:55

Know 3 Edwards and only 1 Nathaniel, nn Nattie.

I prefer Nathaniel but do love the nn Ted/Teddy.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I like both names and they'd go well either way round. Do they both fit equally well with their surname?
