Like them both a lot. DH prefers one, and I prefer the other, what do you think? DS is Oliver. Thanks all x

I like them both but not sure either go with Oliver. Think Isaac sounds better with Oliver though.

blueberrymoon · 29/03/2011 22:54

Yes I think I agree. They are the only names that I can imagine calling a future son though, can you think of any more that have a similar feel, yet sound better with Oliver...?

Isaac

horsemadgal · 30/03/2011 00:21

Samuel? Thomas?

Lousielou · 30/03/2011 00:26

Love them both - I have an Isaac but Elijah was also on my list - DH wasn't so keen though. Agree that Isaac sounds better with Oliver.

caz05 · 30/03/2011 10:34

Isaac (although I am slightly biased as I already have an Isaac and love the name)

Tortoise · 30/03/2011 10:38

Isaac, I have an Oliver and DS2 is Zach which can also be a shortening for Isaac.

flopsy1974 · 30/03/2011 10:59

Another vote for Isaac. Lovely name.

PorkChopSter · 30/03/2011 11:04

Isaac goes better than Elijah.

Tuschinski · 30/03/2011 16:25

Love them both, prefer Isaac.

blueberrymoon · 30/03/2011 16:57

Thanks all!

Isaac is the one I lean towards, but DH loves Elijah, and I think I'm being swayed!

Out of interest, how would you pronounce Elijah? Starting with 'ee' 'e' 'a' 'eh' and would you say the 'j' softly, because I heard someone the other day pronounce it with a heavy 'j' sound?

I think they are both gorgeous. And I dont understand why they have to 'go' with Oliver. I think I would choose Elijah. he'd probably end up as an Eli. but i DO love Isaac (who would prob end up Zac). great choices !

AltoEager · 30/03/2011 22:01

elle-AYE-juh is how I'd pronounce it.

I prefer Isaac (and would have chosen it for my DS1 if DH would have agreed but instead he has it as his middle name!).

LifeOfKate · 31/03/2011 15:06

I love both, although can't use them as DS1 is Noah and I would risk looking extremely religious if I picked one of those!

I don't think you need to worry about whether it goes with Oliver, they will be children for a small portion of their life (i.e. in the same house and often together) and not named together very often, I wouldn't have thought.

bronze · 31/03/2011 15:07

Elijah was my favourite but we now have an Isaac.

JuliaGulia · 31/03/2011 21:26

I have a 13mo Isaac - I love the name and I've no regrets that we picked it. I think it sounds intelligent and historic!

SolarPanel · 01/04/2011 12:55

I like both but prefer Elijah as it's a bit more unusual. I'd pronounce it with a hard "j" to distinguish it from Elisha.

TruthSweet · 01/04/2011 23:10

It sounds like you like Isaac Asimov's novels - good taste!

Elijah was one of his main characters (also known as Lije) and Oliver was the name of the name of the main robot character R. Daneel Olivaw (Robot Daniel Oliver).

Sorry you probably have never heard of Isaac Asimov, let alone decided to name your children after him/his nbooks....Smile

blueberrymoon · 01/04/2011 23:28

Thank you all lots! :)

TruthSweet I have never heard of Isaac Asimov! But how interesting! I might have to have a read to see what other names I can find!

DH now says he doesn't like any nns for Elijah...

OP posts:
TruthSweet · 02/04/2011 08:49

Well there's the odd one or two books he wrote here.

Other good Asimov names are Jessie (Jezebel - Elijah's wife), Ben (Elijah's son), Hari (Seldon - the psychohistorian in the Foundation series), Arkady Darrell, Bayta Darrell (Arkady's grandmother), Andrew Martin, Gladia Solaria......

I'n not a geek honest Smile
