I was at a bnursery the other day and came across this name. Is it bad spelling of Timothy or n Irish Tim Ofey??

I'd take it as a minor variation of the normal transliteration of the Russian Timofei.

Does the boy have Russian, Slav or possibly Greek connexions?

One of my best mates little boy is called Timothy.

I'd have clobbered her if she had even considered putting Timofey oh his birth certificate!

Is it not a shampoo?

Timofey\t(i)-mo-fei\ as a boy's name is a variant of Timothy (Greek), and the meaning of Timofei is "God's honor". It is popular in Russia.
