Are they names in their own right or are they short for something?

mrsdaz · 23/03/2011 08:06

Names in their own right :)

I know THREE four year old Jennas. I had never come across it at all until a year ago. Apart from Jenna Ewing of course!

FollowMe · 23/03/2011 08:23

Hope your surname is not taylor!

2plus2more · 23/03/2011 08:24

Quite a few Jennas around here of all ages from babies up to those in their 30s. (3 in this street - 1 newborn, 1 7 year old and 1 teenager!) Haven't got a Pippa in my general aquaintance though. I think of it as a bit Public school-like to be honest, but that wouldn't put me off it - I actually really like it. We have an Isabella who gets Bella a lot. Some people love it and some hate it. We got some pretty awful comments when she was born and we said that if it was to be shortened it was to be Bella rather than Izzy - everything from "it's a dog's name", "it's a Tweenie name" to just plain old "why?"

DramaInPyjamas · 23/03/2011 08:26

Jenna always reminds me of Jenna Jameson.
Pippa is nice.

I like Bella best tbh, really popular due to Twilight though.

Hedwig3 · 23/03/2011 12:16

I like Pippa Smile

SunshineOnARainyDay · 23/03/2011 12:17

I prefer Pippa

meditrina · 23/03/2011 12:21

Like DramainPyjamas, I thought of Jenna Jameson. The page I have linked is wiki - not a porn site.

I like Pippa (prefer it as nn for Philippa, but it's OK on its own).

sieglinde · 23/03/2011 12:27

Not Jenna if you've read Freedom by Jonathan Franzen - what a bitch. I'd avoid Bella - Twilight mania has to have a use-by date (please please god..) Pippa is lovely, but I'd incline to Philippa in case she later prefers Phyl.

smother · 23/03/2011 14:31

I like Jenna and Bella. Not so keen on Pippa.

oohlaalaa · 23/03/2011 14:34

Love both. I think Pippa is softer sounding.

I am slightly biased as I went to shool with a Philippa (nn Pippa) and she's a lovely person.

Firawla · 23/03/2011 16:50

I think Jenna is better, very pretty name.
Pippa makes me think of Peppa Pig, although its not awful

kiwidreamer · 23/03/2011 16:54

Jenna will always mean Ms Jameson to me and Pippa is sweet but I'd give her the choice as an adult by using Phillipa on her BC, makes me think of Peppa Pig a little bit but not too much to be an issue.

LouMacca · 23/03/2011 17:02

Love Jenna. We had it on our shortlist. Pippa is also nice.
