Okay, Im not even pregnant yet, but i love baby names..so..

My Dads name is Cyril. Its crap! he hates it, i hate it everyone hates it. I can't inflict this on a child. But i love my dad, so much, i really want to 'use' his name somehow. An anagram of Cyril is Lyric. He thinks I am mental, but i love it...am I being ridiculous? Could I name a baby Lyric? Really? what gender would even be a 'Lyric'?

Oh please dont slate it too much. My two childrens names are a little different, (i think even chavvy but 'tis all we could agree on, and now actually love) so i think it would fit with the trend so to speak..

Anyway just throwing it out there to see how crazy this would really be. DH is all for it, my Dad is a fab guy

i would just think of the lyric hammersmith

My dd's name is Lyra which means lyrical, you could get around it that way for a girl. Otherwise I would think Lyric is a boy and would get shortened to Ric. It would take a bit of getting used to but its not bad

OMG No!!! Mabye you could do something with Ric but not Lyric.

Think there is a celeb mentioned in another thread who has a son called Lyric? Wouldn't be my choice, but i know of alot worse!

I think as a middle name you could use it for either gender.

I've always loved Lyric as a potential baby name if I ever had a son, to me it sounds different without being weird, and LOVE the fact that for you, it is using your dads name.

I quite like it as a middle name but I would use something a little less 'out there' as a first name. It's your choice though. I have heard a lot worse names!

Just wanted to thank the replies, Im only listening to TIPTOP though dont worry i jest, think it will be a definate middle name, but i doubt you'd like any first name son my list better

Will be for a boy though, for a girl middle name will be Peace, my mothers maiden name, I suppose thats just as pants though eh?
