I'm 36 weeks pregnant with DC2, no idea if it's a boy or a girl, so we've made a shortlist for both.

There is only really one boys name I like.

Casper/Caspar (not sure about the spelling yet).

It goes well with DS's name, and with our surname. My friends, not knowing it's my choice for a boy, ripped the name to shreds today. Now I'm doubting myself.
If we have a boy, am I really setting him up for a lifetime of ridicule?

Btw, I LIKE Caspar the friendly ghost.

err yes

and this is not going to go well

it's up there with Tarquin really sorry

wellwisher · 22/03/2011 20:07

I think it's fab. It is posh though.

LetThereBeRock · 22/03/2011 20:20

I love it.It's beautiful yet strong.

I wouldn't worry too much about the ghost thing as he's not a very well known character now,not amongst children at least.

I like it :) The Biblical spelling seems to be Caspar so I'd go with that.

UndiscoveredApprentice · 22/03/2011 21:45

caspar is fab

MerryMarigold · 22/03/2011 21:48

I really dislike it. Dunno, just do. I think it's poncey. But whatever rocks your boat.

Margles · 22/03/2011 21:50

I knew a Gaspar - he was of part Spanish origin. It was shortened to Gas - but he didn't seem to mind.

I quite like it and if you do - go for it.

hulabula · 22/03/2011 21:50

In German a Kasper is a well known (punch&judy) puppet and kaspern means to be silly, so not a great name in the German speaking world.

cookingbaby2 · 22/03/2011 22:18

It's great!

I know all about the Quasselkasper hulabula I grew up in germany :o but it doesn't really bother me, because we don't live there anymore, and my family aren't german..

I've had suggestions for Gaspar and Jaspar, but I don't really like those two too much..

anyway, this could all be a moot point when bump turns out to be a girl :o
