I like it.
We considered it for our first one 14 years ago but never used it - also have strong irish connections so would have been more than appropriate.
I think there are a lot worse names tbh so can't understand why it seems to be attracting so much negativity

I don't really like names that sound like surnames but I don't mind Emmett. Em or Emmy not good for nicknames though

Emmett reminds me of a short-form of emetic (the medical term for something to induce vomiting). So no, I'd deffo not go for Emmett.
