Daniel, what do you think?

I don't often hear the name any more.

I was born in the mid-seventies and know quite a few (mainly called Dan) in adulthood.

We are thinking of this as a name, as it's the only one we agree on but I'm still undecided, can you convince me?

My surname is one syllable, and quite a common name.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! My 9 month old is called Daniel. We also have a one syllable surname and feel it flows very well.

pickledsiblings · 21/03/2011 11:32

Lovely name but unfortunately we didn't get to use it Sad.

PepsiPopcorn · 21/03/2011 11:41

I like it.

StealthPolarBear · 21/03/2011 11:44

absolutely love it
has always been my favourite boy name
would have called DS it but my DH is called Daniel!

paddingtonbear1 · 21/03/2011 11:45

I think it's a lovely name. It's my dh's name so I may be biased :)

LibraMoon · 21/03/2011 11:51

I don't think it's uncommon, it's still in or around the top ten lists.

I still quite like it though, is slightly bland but nice enough.

franke · 21/03/2011 11:52

I've always liked it, but didn't use it because dh not keen.

BarbieLovesKen · 21/03/2011 12:17

I've always loved this name. Its gorgeous. The fact that its number 5 in charts here (Ireland) is putting me off a little for this current bump.

rachel234 · 21/03/2011 12:40

I don't like it personally, just not my taste.

pirateparty · 21/03/2011 12:45

I know three baby Daniels. When I first heard it I thought it was unusual for a baby, but actually has grown on me and I think it's lovely. I had some lovely friends called Dan when growing up. Don't like nn Danny though.

NoWayNoHow · 21/03/2011 12:45

It's a lovely name - really, really strong and would go very well with the one syllable surname.

Northernrose · 21/03/2011 12:59

Love this name! And despite it being popular in the name charts and knowing loads of wee kids/babies I only know one Daniel. Fantastic strong boys name, would be one of our top choices if dc2 turns out to be a boy!

LetThereBeRock · 21/03/2011 13:01

I love it. I hate the nicknames, but I'd still use it.

mopsyflopsy · 21/03/2011 13:30

I wouldn't choose it personally and I'm not keen on Dan or Danny.

barmbrack · 21/03/2011 13:33

Sorry, I don't like it either. To me it is weedy.

dinkystinky · 21/03/2011 13:36

Love it - my DS2 has the name. We call him Danny which sutis him down to the ground - he is a very cheeky little man.

flopsy1974 · 21/03/2011 13:40

A really nice name and was a contender for DD had she been a boy. To say it tends to be around the top ten names i have only heard of it once among young children in my local area. Daniel is one of those timeless classic names that you can't go far wrong with.

Lovely name. Meant to be very popular but I only know 1 child under 11 with this name.
Daniel in the lion's den is a great namesake and role model!

Onion1968 · 22/03/2011 21:05

I love the name Daniel. Classy.

PrincessScrumpy · 22/03/2011 21:39

I know a baby called Danny (will probably be Daniel when older). I wouldn't choose it but I do like it.

TysonNobdie86 · 22/03/2011 21:44
