Oooh loads that I like! Favourites - Benjamin, Isaac, Wilf, Max, Harper (but I think of this more for a girl) and Maddoc. Never heard of Zubin...? Like it though - where is it from and what does it mean?

BosomForAPillow · 18/03/2011 23:14

Benjamin - nice
Zubin - never heard of this, is it pronounced Zoobin? Sounds a bit weird.
Isaac - lovely, know a couple of gorgeous Isaacs
Maddoc - don't like
Harper- would think it's a girl (like Harper Lee)
Charlie - don't like this, don't get why it's so popular
Orlando - don't like
Max - lovely
Jude - lovely
Wilf - ok
Arlo - ok, getting quite popular

cece · 18/03/2011 23:17

Benjamin - lovelu
Zubin - no!
Isaac - I think I should like it but I don't
Maddoc - too Angelina
Harper - no!
Charlie - too cute
Orlando - too Hollywood
Max - Lovely
Jude - girly
Wilf - like
Arlo - no too trendy

Pilotte · 18/03/2011 23:17

Zubin is Zoobin yes. It's Iranian (not that we are, just like the name!)

Benjamin - Timeless name. Lovely.
Zubin - Cool
Isaac - Good, but very popular if that bothers you
Maddoc - A bit too surname-y for my liking
Harper - Same as above
Charlie - Cute name
Orlando - Can't think of Orlando without thinking of Bloom
Max - Great name, simple but strong. As with Isaac though, 'tis very popular
Jude - I'm not keen on this. It's a bit too fashionable for my liking
Wilf - Don't like
Arlo - A little too 'arty'

PepsiPopcorn · 18/03/2011 23:26

I like Isaac, Max and Arlo.

breatheslowly · 18/03/2011 23:27

Benjamin - lovely, classic
Zubin - sounds good but might prove a challenge for spelling and being relatively unknown. Probably would be best for an outgoing child, you will know if this is likely to be the case for yours.
Isaac - lovely
Maddoc - could be a girl
Harper - could be a girl
Charlie - prefer Charles with nn Charlie
Orlando - Mmakes me think of Disney World
Max - Good name
Jude - Hey Jude, Jude the Obscure.
Wilf - Sounds a bit wet
Arlo - very now.

activate · 18/03/2011 23:29

Benjamin - like it, like Ben - but the 2 Bens I know are complete nutters and one's a thug
Zubin - what? like the bloke off Holby City a few seasons ago
Isaac - love it - also good shortenings
Maddoc - Ruth Maddoc, are you having a Welsh baby
Harper - Harper Lee - pretentious
Charlie - & Lola, & the Chocolate Factory, Charlie Says - yeah ok but charlie is a nickname so charles?
Orlando - Bloom - gotta be joking
Max - yeah cute
Jude - know one, don't like him
Wilf - Wilf - not sure
Arlo - Hippy

rirismummy · 19/03/2011 00:08

Benjamin - love it - but only if it was shortened to Ben
Zubin - no
Isaac - nice
Maddoc - don't like maddoc but LOVE Maddox
Harper - different....I like it - very American
Charlie - too basic and in my opinion quite boring
Orlando - too 'Hollywood'
Max - nice, cool & simple
Jude - no
Wilf - absolutely not
Arlo - sounds like a 5th Tweenie!

flopsy1974 · 19/03/2011 00:35

Love Isaac and Wilf (Wilfred on the BC perhaps) Smile

cityangel · 19/03/2011 00:45

I like Harper if not how about:

Ellis
Harrison
Kurt
Eason
Otis

...

brightcopperkettles · 19/03/2011 02:42

Benjamin, Isaac and Max

meditrina · 19/03/2011 09:49

I like Benjamin, Issac, Max and Jude. Also Charles and Wilfred.

Sorry, I don't really like the others.

ben5 · 19/03/2011 09:58

Benjamin
charlie
issac
max

UndiscoveredApprentice · 19/03/2011 10:06

Benjamin - timeless classic
Zubin - hate it
Isaac - like it
Maddoc - no strong feelings
Harper - prefer it for a girl
Charlie - like it, but v ordinary compared with your others
Orlando - hate it
Max - okay
Jude - I think it is a nickname for Judith
Wilf - hate it
Arlo - love it

TidyDancer · 19/03/2011 10:07

Benjamin - a classic, but perhaps a bit too 'normal' considering some of the others on your list.
Zubin - not keen, though have never heard it before, so if you're going for unique-ish, that would be good.
Isaac - prefer Zach(ary).
Maddoc - reminds me of Brangelina and haddock. So it's a no for me. Looks like it needs the 'k' as well.
Harper - only ever heard it used as a girls name, don't like it at all on either sex.
Charlie - quite overused but still nice. Would go for Charles and use Charlie as a NN.
Orlando - pretentious.
Max - have always really liked this.
Jude - a little on the Orlando side of things, but much better.
Wilf - old man name that should not have been revived IMO.
Arlo - have never liked this name at all.

morethanyoubargainfor · 19/03/2011 10:11

Ohh actually lots i like!

Benjamin-my least favourite.

Zubin-really like this, it looks as lovely written as is sounds.

Isaac-its ok.

Maddoc-like this one.

Harper-possibly my favourite from your list.

Charlie-I really don't like this one

Orlando-unsure tbh
Max-always makes me think of dogs.

Jude-nice but becoming popular

Wilf-really like this, i knew a lovely man called wilf and every time i hear the name i smile to myself and see my wilf in my head.

Arlo-up there with Wilf and Harper.

I like Benjamin, Max, Jude and Charles for Charlie

How about Alexander (Alex/Alec)

The others are very 'now', I think it might be better to choose a timeless/classic name.

I'd watch names like Isaac and Zubin if they have obvious cultural/regligious connotations, you will look foolish if you are not from that culture.

squeak2392 · 19/03/2011 14:33

Benjamin - I really can't get my head around this name for some reason Confused. I do like Ben though.
Zubin - It makes me laugh Smile. In a good way; it sounds fun. However, not keen on the 'bin' part. Consider Zuben or Reuben.
Isaac - It's okay, but it was a lot nicer before it became popular.
Maddoc - Prefer Maddox, but this is fine. Personally, I'd use Merrick instead.
Harper - Sounds like a girl, but only because the only one I know is a girl. In fact, it's a really strange name - wouldn't use it on either.
Charlie - I do really like this, but it's really common and I hate nns as full names. If I wanted this I'd have to use Charles, which might not go down well in a chavvy area.
Orlando - Don't like. I thought it was silly on Orlando Bloom, and only really thought it suited him when he was dressed up as Legolas. Bloom is definitely the first thing that comes to mind.
Max - Fine, but again, would consider a fuller name: Maximilian, Maximus, Maxim.
Jude - This is getting more popular, but I really don't understand why =/ It sounds so unfinished and all I can think of is 'Hey Jude'. I much prefer Judas but... I'm not sure how socially acceptable that would be.
Wilf - Like but would use Wilfred as full name. Makes me think of Donna Noble's grandad, but he's lovely, so that's a good thing Smile.
Arlo - I've seen this mentioned before, but I think it's horrible =/

I suppose my favourite is Wilf, but your names aren't really to my taste, so I can't pick.

Rhubarbgarden · 20/03/2011 08:15

Jude is the only one I like here.
