What do you think of Meg? Thanks.

Love it. I started a thread a while ago about it. Seem to remember lots on here would assume it was short for Megan or Margaret, but I like it as a name in itself, like Kate, Beth...

rubybambini · 17/03/2011 16:42

I really like it as a name in its own right, too.

PepsiPopcorn · 17/03/2011 16:47

I like it, particularly as nickname for Megan.

TheFlyingOnion · 17/03/2011 17:15

Meg and Mog.

Also, its a really popular name for our local farmers' working collies Hmm

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 17/03/2011 17:18

I like Meg, but would probably go for Megan as a full name.

monkeysmum79 · 17/03/2011 17:36

Love it! Smile

banjomanjo · 17/03/2011 17:38

meg and mog!

flipfloppop · 17/03/2011 18:38

I think it's pretty. It doesn't need a lengthened version to be a valid name. Just 'meg' is lovely.

zingally · 17/03/2011 18:41

Hmmm... Not too keen. Would be fine as "Megan" and just shortened to Meg. But there's not a lot she can do with Meg if she doesn't like it later in life!

Hedwig3 · 18/03/2011 09:07

I like it.

Rhubarbgarden · 18/03/2011 09:14

Working collie to me too, sorry.

valbona · 18/03/2011 09:23

great name, definitely fine on its own as it's not a baby-ish/girly shortening - strong without being unfeminine

Fourleaf · 18/03/2011 13:06

Great - but defo as a nickname for Megan/Margaret

Edmundo · 18/03/2011 22:20

I love Meg but really don't like Megan. It sounds a bit 90s.

I'd go for Margaret nn Meg. Lovely.

cece · 18/03/2011 22:21

My pet collie was called Meg.

I do like it

But as a teenager I used to call the dog in the park by shouting Smeg. Grin Blush

breatheslowly · 18/03/2011 22:23

I like it, but prefer it as a NN so that your DD can use any variation she likes.

hester · 18/03/2011 22:23

Cute! Overdue for a revival; you should start the trend.

Indith · 18/03/2011 22:26

Meg is lovely.

I have a Margaret, 99.9% of the time she is Daisy but Meg is bubbling away under the surface as she gets older :)

Vegasgirl · 19/03/2011 13:20

Thankyou - I love it, my DD is called Eve, I like short names but IKWYM about not being able to shorten it.

Really don't like Meg as a stand alone name. Definitely needs to be short for Megan or something.

I really don't like nns as first names - Meg is truly horrendous imo, while Kate and Katie (although Katy is fine) are acceptable, but undesirable, and Beth is somewhere in between.

Sorry, I can't stand names like this =/ The only thing that makes 'Charlie' acceptable is the fact that it's really cute and in a lot of areas 'Charles' would be ripped apart.

Underachieving · 19/03/2011 16:06

I'm torn. I love it, it's really cute and much nicer than Margaret or Megan; but it is a collie name. It's a tricky one.
