We just can't agree!

We already have the girls name picked but whilst aaron /Arran is a safe boy name we both like neither are mad on.

My fav is Sebastian, his is Nate (for reason that we love sign of the times by prince and it was one of our ' things' when courting!) but lately Rafe has snuck in as it works well with our surname and is a classic but underused name with good meaning (wolf in Norse)

I also like ralph for same reason but worried he'll get bullied!

Could use rafferty but worried it's a bit surname which is not quite what we want....

What do you think??

Sebastian my fave out of your list.

PepsiPopcorn · 16/03/2011 22:24

I like Nathaniel best from your list. It's a nice classic name.

Also like Aaron, but much prefer Air-on pronounciation (I've heard this name mainly in church services and it's always been Air-on not Arran - don't know why!)

I quite like Sebastian too.

Rafferty is a bit OTT and frilly IMO.

BelligerentGhoul · 16/03/2011 22:25

Sebastian

tobytoes · 16/03/2011 22:26

I think Rafe and Ralph are both nice. Are you thinking about Ralph as in vomit as the tease factor?
Wouldn't worry to be honest, kids will find something to tease each other about no matter how hard you try. There's always home schooling if you go for Ralph!?Grin
But really, it is a cute name: little Ralphie! Sweet!
Sebastian is a nice name. I have been slightly put off by a friend of mine who used his middle name Charles (Chas), rather than be called Sebastian, which was his first name.

I like Rafe best, followed by Sebastian and Nate. Not too keen on Aaron.

tstar · 17/03/2011 07:18

I know a lovely Raferty, we all call him Raff.
I have known 2 very carming Sebastian's.
I love the name Ralph as it is within our family, I was also unsure how to use this name, maybe as a middle name?
I personally love the name Nate it was on my list of maybe names.

Nate Ralph ..........

I used to babysit a Nathaniel and he was a lively sweet soul Nate is a lovely nick name.

Nathaniel Ralph .......

(sounds very charming to me)

AnnetteTwitcher · 17/03/2011 08:06

Thanks everyone for replying but now I'm even more confused!

Definitely worried about ralphie the ralpher but just think the name is so cute.

I love seb/Sebastian but dh says it's too poncy

He likes Nate but I'm worried it's a bit American and it goes least well with our surname.

And I agree with the poster who said rafferty might be flouncy but love love love Raff.

Boys names are hard!

I have an Aaron pronounced Air-on and I have a Nathaniel, Natty for short, although now he's 12 it's becoming Nat more. Top names, and I regularly get told how lovely my kids' names are. (Have a Jasper and Eleanor too.)

mopsyflopsy · 17/03/2011 10:13

I prefer Rafferty and Ralph - both lovely classic names that aren't overused.

Sebastian is ok but I dislike Seb/Sebbie as it reminds me of sebacious (oily). Not keen of Nate.

cumbria81 · 17/03/2011 11:16

Nate is quite American (not that that's a bad thing) but I don't like it.

Ralph is a penis

Sebastian is nice

AnnetteTwitcher · 17/03/2011 11:42

Ha ha Ralph is from forever! I must have read that book 100 times when I was young!

I love Eleanor and jasper thevisitor- what a nice brood you have :)

Ralph is a Penis Confused?

I thought a William (Willy) was a penis...? Or a Johnny...? But a Ralph?

QueenofDreams · 17/03/2011 11:47

My DS is Sebastian :) It was the only name DP and I could agree on for a boy. I love Nathaniel as well.

Not keen on Rafe or Ralph though
Mopsy an Jonny is a condom not a penis.

TheVisitor · 17/03/2011 13:24

Thank you, Twitcher Grin

Now Ralph is who you talk to when you've had a heavy night out on the beer. You often hear the name being shouted...... Wink

AnnetteTwitcher · 17/03/2011 15:40

All I can think of now is 'are you there god? It's me, margaret' I must, I must, I must increase my bust!

Those books were great!

The visitor- that's exactly why I'm wary of having a Ralph!
