Do these 2 names sound ok together?
Really like Philippa (Pippa) as a first name and Janet is a family name.

Not really.

Can you use Philippa Jane instead?

mathanxiety · 15/03/2011 20:43

Or Philippa Janette?

thisisyesterday · 15/03/2011 20:46

sounds ok to me. and it's not like she'll be known as Philippa Janet all the time. I can't even remember the last time anyone used my kids' middle names

PepsiPopcorn · 15/03/2011 20:49

Philippa (Pippa) is a lovely name :)

Philippa Janet would be fine, and quite original I think as I don't know any little Philippas or Janets.

breatheslowly · 15/03/2011 20:57

I like Philippa and Janet is ok, but I don't think that they go together. I have never heard of Janette, how is it pronounced?

Underachieving · 15/03/2011 20:58

Janet sounds a but hard after soft Phillippa to me. That said getting the first name right is so much more important than find a first name that works with the In Honor Of middle name. It's not desperately bad.

hocuspontas · 15/03/2011 20:59

I think it's lovely. As long as it's not Philippa-janet as a first name!

PepsiPopcorn · 15/03/2011 20:59

Janet is a diminutive of Jane. Philippa Jane would be nice.

pinkthechaffinch · 15/03/2011 21:07

I'd stick with Philippa Janet

I bet in 10 years time these boards will be flooded with dds named Janet!

Rhubarbgarden · 15/03/2011 22:27

Lovely. I think a middle name with family meaning is much nicer to have than one that was picked just because it sounds pretty.

missp2010 · 16/03/2011 19:47

I think Philippa is a great name (can you guess why?) nice to see you're spelling it the proper way too :) I don't see anything wrong with Janet as a middle name either.

The lovely thing about the name Philippa is that everyone has heard the name before, most people spell it properly, and yet it's not that common (I think I've met less than a dozen in my life).

Emelene · 16/03/2011 19:48

The two together don't sound too modern, but I think Pippa is cute! :)

Lonnie · 16/03/2011 19:58

I much prefeer Philippa Janet to Philippa Jane..

chuckieegg2008 · 16/03/2011 20:08

Love the name Pippa my baby girl is Pippa Rose :)

Onion1968 · 16/03/2011 21:38

I like the name Philippa and I agree with thisisyesterday that people aren't generally known by their full names in everyday life anyway so go for it.

PS breatheslowly: it is pronounced with more of an emphasis on the 'net' bit so Ja-NET rather Janet which comes out more like Janit IYKWIM.

ValiumSingleton · 17/03/2011 21:55

I don't like Janet, but I agree with a pp, by the time kids are old enough to be slightly self-conscious about their middle names, Janet will have come back into fashion I SUPPose.
