Hi all,

Could I have your opinions on what we think is our final list.

Girl:

Kate Anne Elizabeth (we are pretty much 100% on this but would still welcome comments - wouldnt usually go for 2 middle names but thought Kate and Anne together was too boring as both one syllable names and Anne Elizabeth is my mothers (full) name)

Boy:

Thomas Eoin/ Thomas ???
Iarlaith ??? (Ear - la)
(boys name has broke our heart - nothing out there we particulary love but think Thomas may be it..)

Yes very nice choice for the girl's name and I prefer Thomas for the boy's name.

growing3rdbump · 14/03/2011 13:10

Lovely name! It's mine! (Kate)
My sister is Anna Elizabeth and also lovely names!

Boys names are hard. Thomas is great!

greenzebra · 14/03/2011 13:11

Just a comment on the girls name, I think its lovely but I think it would flow better as

Kate Elizabeth Anne

Two short names together sound like they should be joined to me, especially with a long name like elizabeth in there.I have two middle names its a family tradition and has taken 9 months to get DH to agree to giving our baby two middle names.

Boys names are so hard arent they, have only just decided on ours after much looking a argueing

Girl

All nice names but I wouldn't use all three. Personally I'd go for Katherine Anne or Katherine Elizabeth, with Kate for short. Anne and Elizabeth are very traditional names so I think Katherine would match them better, yet you can still have Kate as full-time nickname if you wish.

Boy

Thomas - yes, nice name. Not particularly keen on Eoin or Iarlaith, sorry.

How about Thomas Jacob, Thomas William, Thomas Henry, Thomas Peter, Thomas Oliver?

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 13:22

It's difficult when you have a girl's name you love and just can't find an equivalent. I always thing I'd be letting any hypothetical ds down because his name would be something that I liked enough to pick whereas with girls I have several names that I'd use because I couldn't not iyswim.

Thomas is a lovely name. Good, strong, solid.

ha ha growing3rdbump - obviously your mum and I have similiar taste!!!

Thank you so much for all the comments - really helpful.

Am happy to hear (well not happy but you know what I mean!) that Im not the only one who finds boy's names so hard!! Im sure some of you have read my countless threads (showofhands, you sum it up perfectly). We have an Oisín already and love the name so much that we feel any potential ds gets a second best name as we wont like it as much.

I love your name for a girl and with all the other comments i prefer Thomas for a boy. It is really difficult thinking of names, i have got all this to look forward to!!

olddeuteronomy · 14/03/2011 17:07

I like Katherine Anne, Kate for short.

I do really like Iarlaith and in some ways prefer it to Thomas, which is a bit run of the mill compared to your son's name. It is more of a brave choice though and there is the chance it could be perceived as a bit girly but I'm sure noone would think thisonce it became 'his' name.

exoticfruits · 14/03/2011 17:23

I like the girl's names and I like Thomas but not the others.

Nightstar · 14/03/2011 18:51

I like your girls name too - I think you should keep working on the boys name tbh!

alexaj · 14/03/2011 19:09

Girl's name is nice enough. Bit boring though. And I prefer Thomas than those other names.
