Any thoughts on Mila? would pronounced it Meela.

Cant comment on middle name as dont know last name but i'm guessing something that doesnt end in 'a' would be fine!

Mila pronounced this way is my DD1's diminutive (from Milena) and she loves it! Milena is Southern Slav in origin (Czech/Slovak etc.) and means "beloved" but whether Mila as a standalone has a different meaning I don't know. HTH. Oh, and our Mila has Maria as a middle, after MIL

yeah i love mila kate, nice. I'd be surprise if mispronounced miller, when i first read i pronounced with an I sound instead of an E sound

Oh yes, BTW she often gets mispronounced, most irritatingly by my aunt, who says "My-la" and Will Not Learn but Mila just laughs at her!

She is named for the meaning and also after Kafka's lover, Milena Jesenska, who was rather feisty!

It'll be pronouced My-La surely by everyone? I'm not sure in a Scottish accent. And correcting pronounciation will be tedious.

In Russian, Mila is nn for Ludmila. Ludmila means "loved / admired by people,", Mila means "sweet, darling". Other endearments of Mila are Milochka (sometimes used as a generic noun meaning "sweetheart", may be used ironically as in "well, my dear") or Milushka.

Btw, Ludmila is pronounced Luhd-MEELA.

I would say it with a short "i" , just like Mia is not My-a and Miriam is not My-riam. Maybe that's just me. I think it's a fab name!!

Mila Kunis is Milena Kunis and she is Ukrainian, Mila is the short version.

Other forms are Milada and Milagros in Spanish

Milla Jovovich is Milica (which I think is pronounced somewhere around Mill-itcha)

You could also do Camilla or Emilia as have it as you nn.

Not calling your dd something you love just because others might pronounce it wrong is silly!! There is potential for most names to be said or spelt wrongly.

I teach a lovely girl named Meila. Mind you, I assumed it was a typo on my class list and that she was actually Melia, short for Amelia (or similar). But no, Meila - first time I've heard of it, and she's very sweet, which makes me think it's a good choice of name, OP. Mind you, I would pronounce "Mila" as "miller"
