I really like this name, it's growing on me daily but now I wonder if there are loads? Haven't actually met any but I'm thinking it's suddenly becoming popular, am I right?

I know an Eliza who is 5 or 6 - I love it!

mrskitty thats what i think too but every person i meet mentions the singer instead.

It's DD's middle name. Was a strong candidate for a first name but we thought it would be abbreviated along the way and we couldn't agree on a diminutive we both liked so we settled on another name(though there are many nice ones IMO).

DC2 was a boy luckily or I would have always regretted using it for DD's middle name.

IMO it's a classic name but still quite unusual/quirky which is why I love it. I know of one IRL (friend of a friend) and very occasionally here it about which is about right for a name I think Smile.

Eliza Doolittle (the new one!) may increase popularity but I doubt it's going to "do a Ruby" and charge up the charts.

Go for it!

hear it about Blush

'My Fair Lady' too, although did hear the singer's name and wondered why she would copy the whole name, can't imagine her mother actually called her that!!
My dh LOVES Audrey Hepburn so hoping that he will come around to the name (he likes it but it's probably 2 or 3 on our shortlist) because of that connection.
I think I'm really smitten!

It's not the singer's real name though. Cool name though, Eliza

If my baby ever decides to turn up, and then turns out to be a girl, she will be Eliza. Everyone I mention it to loves it and I haven't heard it too often. I have a thing about the '3 in a class' scenario, but you just don't know what's going to be popular that year.

MajorBumsore · 13/03/2011 16:15

It's becoming very, very popular round these parts (South London) btw.

my eliza is 20 this year and loves her name....friends call her slyza though!!!

Eliza is beautiful. I think of My Fair Lady and the singer. I think it is gaining in popularity but then lovely names do. Go for it!
