We're having a little girl, and have picked alot of names that me and my partner like but no one else seems to agree!
The last name's 'Perry'
and I think the middle name is going to be Rose.
These are the names that I like.. opinions and suggestions are very welcome! The honest the better lol.

  • Grace
  • Dylan
  • Evie
  • Effie
  • Bailie
  • Deenah
  • Analise
  • Faith
  • Micah
  • Bo/Beau
  • Frankii
  • Amelia
  • Theresah
  • Lola
  • Willow

I must stress that I want something that no one else will have, but not so strange that she will get bullied. :)
My mother in law is insistant on Erin, which I did pick in my first trimester but now I'm not so keen.
My partner and I both love Dylan :)

Any help would be appreciated.

Pick a name you like but please spell them correctly. Some of your spellings are plain wrong.

And Beau's a boy's name.

I like Willow from your list.

But if you want a name others won't have used steer clear of Amelia, Lola, Evie and Grace. They're all popular, particularly Evie which is very very popular.

mamsnet · 08/03/2011 10:44

Dylan is a boy's name..

I like Grace and Evie but you say you don't want popular ones..mmm

MummyToBe91 · 08/03/2011 10:45

No, they're not spelt wrong. That's how I have chose to spell them, purely to make them look more feminine.
Eg. Bailie - looks masculine if spelt with a 'y'
And I don't like Frankie with an 'e' imo.
Also it depends where your from to how spelling is taken tbf.

I didn't know Beau was a boy's name lol.. Blush I guess that's off the list then
:)

... And Dylan isn't just a boy's name.

It's unisex, I looked it up :)

Grace - beautiful - but hugely popular - dont use if you want a name no one else will pick (although your never going to get that!! Smile)

  • Dylan - Im sorry, its a boy's name to me. Maybe Im clouded by the fact that my nephew is Dylan. It just doesnt seem right. If you both love it though, to hell what anyone thinks.
  • Evie - ok but if you want something no one else will have definately not - its probably going to be in the top 5 thi year.
  • Effie - Its ok.
  • Bailie - is this not spelled Bailey? (its horrible either way)
  • Deenah - I dont like it
  • Analise - lovely. Isnt it Annalise though?
  • Faith - lovely.
  • Micah - terrible.
  • Bo/Beau - Hate this (and its a boy's name)
  • Frankii - NO! Frankie as a nn for Francis I suppose, but dont like - definately not Frankii - looks ridiculous.
  • Amelia - beautiful but again, dont pick if you want a name no one else has as its very, very popular.
  • Theresah - I've only ever spelled this Theresa (and I dont like this name! very boring know about 50 and they are all 40 or over)
  • Lola - beautiful but once again very popular
  • Willow - beautiful
BarbieLovesKen · 08/03/2011 10:50

Sorry, crossed posts with you, Mummy. They are spelt wrong if you've made up the spelling. Sorry but they just look silly this way.

meditrina · 08/03/2011 10:56

From your list, I like Grace, Evie, Faith, Amelia and Lola. Willow is OK, as is Effie (though I see this as nn for Euphemia).

I see Dylan, Bo/Beau and Micah as boys' names.

I don't like your choice of spelling for Deenah (Dinah), Theresah (Theresa) and Analise (Annaliese - for this one, I would urge you to reconsider, to avoid the "anal" start)

I'd see Frankii as a nn for Frances or Francesca, but it's not a name I particularly like, nor is Bailie (however spelt, sorry).

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2011 10:57

They are spelt wrong. Just because you choose to spell them wrong, doesn't make it right.

Dey arr spelllt rong. Just beecos yoo choos too spel themm rong, duznt mayk it rite.

See. I chose to do that.

memphis83 · 08/03/2011 10:58

Willow is lovely, but very popular now, i know of 5 Willows, 3 are Willow Rose
Lola is really popular
Evie is also really really popular at the moment
Bailie looks wrong if you want a different spelling what about Bayleigh?
I personally like Frankie but not with the ii, and I love Dylan
go with what you want, we didnt decide until he came out as i kept getting so many views from everyone it clouded my judgement, but within seconds of him arriving he had a name!

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2011 10:59

Of course you can choose to spell them incorrectly if you want.

But bear in mind most people will think you can't spell or that you're being a bit silly.

I'm honestly not being cruel. It's hard when it's words on a screen. But people won't think 'oh that's feminine/lovely/unique'. They'll think it's silly. And they won't tell you, they'll just think it.

SeeJaneKick · 08/03/2011 11:03

Willow and Effie. Lovely.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 08/03/2011 11:07

avoid 'ee' sounding endings.

Effie Perry just sound funny, for example.

Moodykat · 08/03/2011 11:10

I like the name Clover as is very unusual. If I had a girl I was all set on that. Until my sister gently informed me that if my child ended up not very popular, or perhaps a little overweight, it was a prime bullying target to call her "a cows name".

I know one little girl called Willow and she is beautiful so I am fond of that name!

Ivegotmrbitey · 08/03/2011 11:11

Do you live in Wales? Dylan is a very popular boy's name here. I do actually know a little girl called Dylan Rose but she is from Australia. She gets teased a bit for her name here poor little mite.

PepsiPopcorn · 08/03/2011 11:18

I like Anneliese, Grace, Faith, Amelia and Willow :)

I prefer the traditional spellings to made-up ones, which I don't think improve the names at all.

rachel1970 · 08/03/2011 11:27

You say you want a name that not everyone else has -that rules out Grace, Evie and Amelia - all are very common already.

I like Dylan, Effie and Micah the best.

How about Francesca, with Franki(i) as NN?

charitygirl · 08/03/2011 13:03

Micah?? It's the name of a male Old Testament prophet! Please think again about that one. And agree with ShowofHands - your spellings will, sadly, do your daughter no favours.

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/03/2011 13:16

IMO Dylan, Bailey (or however you spell it) and Micah are boys names.
I also agree with showofhands about the spellings. Just because you choose to spell the names like that, it doesn't mean it's correct. Your DD will be the one to suffer when her name gets spelt incorrectly all the time, purely because everyone else will be spelling it the right way!
Out of your list I like Evie, Grace, Amelia and Lola but they are popular so perhaps you are better off avoiding them.
Faith is the best non popular name on your list. And it's spelt correctly Smile

Hedwig3 · 08/03/2011 13:25

showofhands you crack me up Grin

fifi25 · 08/03/2011 13:42

I only like Bo (was on shortlist for one of mine), Bo is a girls name and is chinese. Beau is a boys name and is French. Lolas my dogs name so i wouldnt use that. Im not keen on the rest sorry Smile

My list would be

Romille
Estelle
Bo
Romy
Jeanie
Romilly
Ethne
Smile

MummyToBe91 · 08/03/2011 17:59

I like Estelle, and fair enough on the analise (anal) comment.. I didn't quite click on to that one :) lol.
Although Anneliese would be difficult for her to spell growing up.

Effie would be short for Elizabeth.
And imo Deenah isn't spelt wrong because I used to work with a girl called Deenah and she spelt her name this way, which is where I got the spelling from. Tbf spelling it Dinah looks like 'diner'.

And my sisters middle name is Theresah, with a 'h' at the end.
And I'm from England, but I am incredibly in love with Dylan.
Although I do have to think about the LO, and kids can be cruel can't they.

I liked Teagan but saying it aloud sounds unusual
Hmm

Just noticed you had Erin picked. I had this on list for 1st daughter. So i think it would be Erin off your list and Estelle off mine [Grin}

bogie · 08/03/2011 18:07

I have a Willow and I love it
