Initials B J

We are currently liking the name Beau for a boy but the surname begins with a J so the initials will then be B J. I am not sure as worried about bullying at school etc but my partner thinks it wont matter. What do you think?

Noooooo don't do it!

Pancakeflipper · 05/03/2011 15:56

Ooh, now I think about it I know several B.J's... I will snigger childishly at them in future.

I am not sure people will spot it. They could all be oblivious like me.

ValiumSingleton · 05/03/2011 16:39

no don't. these are definitely initials to avoid.

MollysChambers · 05/03/2011 16:50

Good God no!

PepsiPopcorn · 05/03/2011 17:03

No, don't do it.

saffy85 · 05/03/2011 18:30

I have a friend who's boyfriend has initials B.J. She often puts FB status as "I really love my B.J". And I snigger every single time Blush I'd rule it out myself....

JemimaMop · 05/03/2011 18:33

They are my brother's initials, and AFAIK nobody ever teased him about them.

Mine on the other hand were DJ and I got loads of comments! Confused

Allatsea1 · 05/03/2011 22:38

God no

NotAnotherNewNappy · 05/03/2011 22:47

Just not worth the risk, don't do it.

Tisallafaff · 05/03/2011 23:02

A very good friend has the initials and has never had any comments. Her DP calls her BJ and noone bats an eyelid.

Guacamole · 05/03/2011 23:09

Our surname starts with a J and I quite like Benjamin (if we ever have a second DS). I think it would be fine, especially if there was a middle name.

CameronCook · 05/03/2011 23:12

I can remember a group of us childishly sniggering at the minutes of a meeting. I think whoever had typed them up had deliberately added innuendo with things like "BJ actioned" and "BJ to deliver" Grin

DuelingFanjo · 05/03/2011 23:13

my son is a BJ. I think it's ridiculous to worry about every little thing which may cause somene to take the piss or bully. My son may end up with glasses or red hair, he might be fat. He could be bullied by badly brought up kids for anything in the future. Anyway, it's not likely that he'll be called BJ by anyone or that people will be properly aware of his middle name anyway.

I assume you are worried because BJ stands for Blow-Job?

Please don't do it - a friend's daughter is currently on the receiving end of some really nasty verbal abuse (which is being dealt with) with girls at her secondary school, the fact that she has initials B.J. add lots of fuel to the bullies fire :(

ChocChipWine · 05/03/2011 23:19

My sister in law has BJ for initials (christian and middle name). MIL calls her BJ and seems to have no idea that it has another meaning. Always amuses us...

Underachieving · 06/03/2011 14:02

Initials are only important when they spell out something rude... Like BJ. Don't do it.

jellybeans · 06/03/2011 15:19

Don't do it. I was in the same dilema and changed the name.

Tolalola · 06/03/2011 15:36

No. I have a friend with these intitials and it has plagued him all his life.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/03/2011 15:39

Why would you do that to your child?

babytrekkie · 06/03/2011 17:31

No I certainly wouldn't. Majority of people have said no. It's a lovely name tho.

DuelingFanjo · 06/03/2011 17:48

oh come on, my child is a BJ and I haven't 'done' anything to him.

witches · 06/03/2011 20:18

I thought of a nice name and had J as a middle when i wrote it down in a text to husband to suggest I realised and he wrote back with 'BJ are you kidding?' We have decided against it.

smother · 06/03/2011 21:00

I know someone with BJ initials and I have to admit that I can't think about his name without thinking that his initials are unfortunate... I don't usually give things like initials a second thought but for some reason, BJ sticks in the mind as being a no-no... sorry to mum's of BJ's!

KLou111 · 06/03/2011 22:31

I liked Bethany Jayne for a girl, but we have decided against it!! So, no IMO, sorry
