Ansel?

We are trying to come up with something a bit different but not "out there".

What do you think of Ansel?

Any inspired middle names to go with it?

Is it just too different?

:)

I would assume you were a fan of Ansel Adams - he is amazing so no bad thing.
It is quite nice, not too different, but not too boring either - lovely. I would go for somethign classic in the middle, Edward, Jonathan, Gregory, Thomas

meditrina · 28/02/2011 14:05

I'm not sure what I thought if it TBH! It might work, but first thoughts were that you'd either missed the "H" off Hansel, or the "m" off Anselm.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/02/2011 14:26

I would think of Ansel Adams, too. I think tummytickler is right about a traditional mn.

mistressploppy · 28/02/2011 14:28

I knew of an Anson, I always quite liked that. Ansel is a bit...odd. But I don't know why

sadiesadiemarriedlady · 28/02/2011 14:33

Love it and it doesn't make me think of a spot cream in any way at all, lovely name.

cumbria81 · 28/02/2011 14:46

Sorry but I think it is "out there".

rachel1970 · 28/02/2011 15:01

I like Ansel - classic, easy to spell & pronounce and works in most languages. Love Ansel Adams' photos too Smile.

How about Ansel Edward or Ansel William?

mopsyflopsy · 28/02/2011 15:10

Love it.

DorisVinyard · 28/02/2011 15:25

Please don't - it is the name of a betting shop group "Ansells"

kviddy · 28/02/2011 18:18

LOL! This is why I love mumsnet. Totally honest opinions!

We do love Ansel Adams (and photography in general).

We had picked out Thomas Franklin originally as it (Thomas) is a family name on both sides.... but where we live, it has become so overused. So we like Ansel Thomas or Ansel Franklin now.

Just trying to work out if we are really brave enough to do it! Grin

Afraid I would also think "and Retal?"!

I really like it and would have no problems using it. I studied photography for several years and am a big fan of Ansel Adams. His prints adorn my walls, and we have been to his gallery in Yosemite.

PepsiPopcorn · 28/02/2011 20:17

I thought "Ansel Adams" too.

Ansel Franklin would be great, a nice original name but not so strange it's unheard of.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 28/02/2011 20:33

I'd think of Ansel Adams too, lovely name too. How about Emerson after Peter Henry Emerson or Henri after Bresson-Cartier?

mopsyflopsy · 28/02/2011 22:26

Ansel Franklin sounds lovely together. Great name.

PorcelinaOfTheVastOceans · 28/02/2011 23:48

another reminded of ansel adams, who i love Grin

ansel franklin is lovely.

maras2 · 01/03/2011 00:55

Perhaps I'm a bit older than you lovely people but the only Ansel that I've ever heard of is the reggae singer Ansel Collins who with his brother Dave had hits in the 1970'son the Trojan label.I can't picture a white kid being called Ansel but if you are and you like it go for it.Any name begining with J would be a great second name.

lovenamechange100 · 01/03/2011 01:03

Ansel? - arsenel? No I wouldnt risk? would leave kid wide open.

lovenamechange100 · 01/03/2011 01:03
