Lovely names.
Iris is probably my least favourite though.

specialsmasher · 23/02/2011 08:20

I really do think they're all lovely. Eva v. popular (but the best of the 'Eves' - Iris on up but very nice.

I had Esther on my short list - I found it very divisive but I still like it, especially thinking of Esther Summerson (Bleak House)!

Isla is becoming spectacularly popular - if that bothers you. Still nice, though.

laosvher · 23/02/2011 08:21

Isla is lovely

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 08:25

Iris or Esther.

weepootle · 23/02/2011 08:26

Isla is ok, not keen on the others except Esther which is the best.

growing3rdbump · 23/02/2011 08:28

Isla or Esther.

christabell · 23/02/2011 08:56

I had almost exactly the same shortlist for my dd now 2 (except Eva though it is nice). We went with a variant of Isla (actually was put of Esther while reading Bleak House on mat leave, found Esther Summerson a bit of an irritating character!)Isla is now ridiculously popular and I regret it a bit as a result. I would choose Esther or Iris - had Esther picked for 3 week old dc2 but he is a boy!(bit gutted did not get to use it so may have to have another one...)

smother · 23/02/2011 08:56

Iris and Esther are really gorgeous names.
Eva and Isla are pretty popular these days, and less interesting as a result.

Ooopsadaisy · 23/02/2011 08:57

Esther.

I also love Ivy.

HettyAmaretti · 23/02/2011 08:59

Lovely. some more popular than others, but all good.

Elsa?

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 23/02/2011 09:08

Esther. Lovely name, and the others are all very now and will date and sound tired in 20 years time. IMHO!

OliveMalay · 23/02/2011 10:57

Esther is lovely.

Iona, Ivy, Evelina, Estella?

Hatterbox · 23/02/2011 11:06

Esther gets the nod from me, as it's not as 'in vogue' as the other names are, and Eva and Isla are particularly popular right now.

LaTristesse · 23/02/2011 11:09

Isla or Iris for me. Also like Isis if you want something a little more unusual...?

TryingVeryHard · 23/02/2011 11:10

Eve (I know a few lovely ones :))
And Elsa / Elsie awwwwwwwwwwww

ShowOfHands · 23/02/2011 11:14

Definitely Esther or Iris.

The other two are so popular that the popularity has overshadowed the beauty of the name. It's a shame when your first reaction to a name is 'oh, another one?'. Particularly as they're nice names.

sunshineoutdoors · 23/02/2011 11:48

Thanks, think I am leaning towards Esther....just need to convince DH now though!

Iris then Esther. Isla is pretty although I like the look of it written down more than the actual sound of it, if that makes sense. I also think it's a bit faddy and so will probably date. I know at least four little Islas.

flower38 · 23/02/2011 14:36

Isla dont like the others.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/02/2011 14:52

Iris

NancyDrewHadaClue · 23/02/2011 14:55

No no no no no to Iris it is a dreadful name, don't do it, stay away.....

telsa · 23/02/2011 15:06

Esther is so ptetty - yes, yes, yes. Iris - too frumpy.

ItsMeYourCathy · 23/02/2011 15:16

Eirlys? (eye-r-liss) Welsh for snowdrops. Sounds like Iris but deffo not top 100 x

NancyDrewHadaClue · 23/02/2011 15:26

Itsme arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh no no no! I have to protest!!! That is my other option (only put off by the worry of DD forever having to spell her name!)

growing3rdbump · 23/02/2011 16:41

Nancy - what are the reasonable unusual names you chose for your children????
