Still going round in circles with boys names but think I love this one (so be kind but honest): Tobin George, nn Toby. What do you think? (DH hates Tobias Sad!)

To Bin or not To Bin...that is the question

babyapplejack · 22/02/2011 16:47

Peter Tobin = serial killer. Unless I am mistaken.

BooBooGlass · 22/02/2011 16:48

Peter Tobin. Mass Murderer. Don't do it

KirstyJC · 22/02/2011 16:50

Hmm, I love Toby as a name (although it didn't make our list as DH hated it) ......

......but isn't Tobin the surname of a really bad criminal? (Won't say what he did as you asked us to be kind, although if you're not in UK and/or don't recognise it, then go for it).

Tobin doesn't come up on the name website I use, so it is presumeably quite rare (in UK anyway)?

George I also love - is DS2's middle name!

KirstyJC · 22/02/2011 16:50

Oh, too slow - you lot beat me to it!

OliveMalay · 22/02/2011 16:51

Sorry, I don't like it.

George is lovely though :)

scurryfunge · 22/02/2011 16:52

Prefer Crippen or Bundy

BeautifulBlondePineapple · 22/02/2011 16:52

Like some of the others, I immediately thought of Peter Tobin (but then I am one of those freaks who reads all about serial killers)

babyapplejack · 22/02/2011 16:56

George is a great name though, why don't you use that as the first name?

blinks · 22/02/2011 16:57

just go straight for 'ripper'.

fallingandlaughing · 22/02/2011 19:10

Just makes me think of Peter Tobin Sad

Is Tobin a name? I amnot keen on Toby, but think it works as a standalone name.

LetThereBeRock · 22/02/2011 20:10

It makes me think of Peter Tobin, the serial killer,or Tobin Bell who played Jigsaw in the Saw series.

A definite no imho.

tummytickler · 22/02/2011 20:18

I am afraid I think of Peter Tobin serial killer too.

poodlerockin · 22/02/2011 20:39

Don't do it. Tobias is nicer anyway but if your DH hates it then Toby is fine on it's own.

seriouslycantbebothered · 22/02/2011 20:53

it sounds like a russian pimp

birdofthenorth · 22/02/2011 21:07

OhBuggerandArse · 22/02/2011 21:31

I knew a Tobin. He was very tall and very posh - East Coast US posh - and very funny. Nice bloke, he wore yellow waistcoats. Does that help at all?

NotJustKangaskhan · 22/02/2011 22:14

How about Tobiel or Tobiah?

JojoMags · 23/02/2011 16:13

Uh oh. Obviously had not made the Peter Tobin connection - that's why MN is brilliant! Thanks for pointing it out Blush.
