Luca
Then again I'm biased as this was going to be DS's name but when he was born he didn't look like a Luca so became James which really suits him and is a family name.

headfairy · 21/02/2011 14:02

Luca, because I've got a Luca, whose surname starts with an M. You're not me are you? :o

quasimodo123 · 21/02/2011 14:03

I could well be headfairy! Grin

Definitely Luca, I mentioned this one to DH at the weekend as we are having serious trouble with boys names and he said no :( So please use it on my behalf :o

randomimposter · 21/02/2011 15:11

I prefer Max, although Luca is nice.

I felt I couldn't use Max as surname also an M (similar to steward IYSWIM) and thought Max M(Steward) sounded like a superhero...

SunshineOnARainyDay · 21/02/2011 15:14

Max definitely - not keen on Luca

romillysmum · 21/02/2011 15:15

Max (biased as I have one) but expect him to be very cheeky and mischievous.

OliveMalay · 21/02/2011 15:30

I like Max.

Luca sounds a bit trendy to me, whereas I do like Luke.

UC · 21/02/2011 15:36

Either is lovely. But Luca if your surname begins with M. That's why we didn't go with Max for DS1.

jellybeans · 21/02/2011 15:38

Max. Not keen at all on Luca.

Bucharest · 21/02/2011 15:39

Difficult.

I don't like Luca unless you have some Italian/Eastern European connections, but Max +M surname sounds a bit James Bondy.

quasimodo123 · 21/02/2011 15:58

My OH great grandfather was Italian so there are some links but starting to get a little bit weak TBH!!

Thank you for the comments. I think we are sort of decided on Luca but wanted some opinions without asking friends family as we are keeping the name a secret.

I never realised choosing a name would be so difficult! Smile

That's a good enough link! (and any existing relatives would probably be so chuffed they'll be turning the vineyards over to you! Wink)

headfairy · 21/02/2011 17:48

:o quasimodo, despite looking and sounding very English we've resurrected our Italian roots so we could use Luca for ds. Mind you, both dh's and my dad were born in Italy, so not so tenuous. Got an Italian surname too, but I can't speak Italian at all well, everyone always expects me to be fluent Blush

cowboylover · 21/02/2011 18:24

I like Luca over Max especially with the M surname.

cowboylover · 21/02/2011 18:27

PS as far as the links to the origin thing I wouldnt agree as I am English living in Wales, my name is Swedish, I used to have a French surname and now I am married to a Welsh man with a German surname so we are a very EU friendly house!
