We already have a girl called this, and we love it but have had mixed reactions from various people.
Honestly what do you all think of this name, I love it and wouldnt change it but just interested to hear some honest opinions about it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That's how a Russian version of Lily would sound, soft and feminine. I actually like Lilia in an English-speaking country more than for a Russian girl: sounds lovely without the social connotations.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/02/2011 18:12

I have a Portuguese friend called Lilia. I love it but it's whether you do that matters!

OliveMalay · 20/02/2011 18:15

TBH I think if you say here that you've already chosen the name, no-one is going to really criticise it. The important thing anyway is that you love it!

sparkle12mar08 · 20/02/2011 18:19

Love it, and it's so much better than Lily - they're ten a penny these days. And I'm very happy to be honest even when I loathe a name!

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 20/02/2011 18:22

I love it, there's a Lilia on Strictly sometimes and I thought about it for DD, would have sounded funny with our surname though.

catinthehat2 · 20/02/2011 18:27

I think there used to be a tampon product called this some years ago, maybe a fragranced one.

catinthehat2 · 20/02/2011 18:28

OK googling brought up this thread so not just me....

A1980 · 20/02/2011 18:39

I love it.

Gorgeous name

MazzzaG · 20/02/2011 22:48

I totally love Lillia I knew two beautiful ukranian girls with that name so now I just think of pretty people when I hear that name lol plus Lilly for short is a great knickname too x

DancingThroughLife · 20/02/2011 22:52

I like it too, but like Ogre it sounds funny with our surname. As does Lily/Lilian and all the other variations. Real shame because I've wanted one of those names for a daughter since I was really little.

blueberrymoon · 20/02/2011 23:30

I love it, and only today was thinking about it as a possibility for future DD! Does your Lilia have a middle name?

OgreTripletsAreSoCute · 20/02/2011 23:31

I had an aunt called Lilias, which I liked too.

mathanxiety · 21/02/2011 05:18

I love it -- far preferable to Lily and especially nicer than Lillian.

beijingaling · 21/02/2011 05:52

Ohhhh, never heard of it but really like it!

fiveboysandalittlelady · 21/02/2011 07:48

Yes she does have a middle name a rather more usual name of Emma.

Tampon conotations for me I'm afraid. If you love it though, use it.

BiscuitBob · 21/02/2011 10:42

I love it, its very pretty

Wouldn't associate it with tampons!

mathanxiety · 22/02/2011 06:25

Those tampons are Lillets iirc, so really any name in the Lily family might make you think tampons. It wouldn't be the first thing I would think of tbh, or anywhere near the first.

LiquoriceLila · 22/02/2011 09:45

Lilia is a gorgeous name

sleepychunky · 22/02/2011 13:58

Aah, we really really wanted Lilia for our first child. Unfortunately we didn't think it would be fair to call a boy Lilia, so saved it for our second - also a boy. So, love it but was never able to use it...
