aliteration... help

we like the L names for a girl (although we won't find out the sex) but our Sirname is an L too..

Laila and Lola are both lovely but it is too cruel with the sirname Logan?

Lola Logan..
there is also the name Lolo- but even I realise Lolo Logan is a form of mental torture- especially if she has a stutter.

Can I call my child lacey without being stamped a child abuser?

Lolo Logan would be going too far , I think you're right on that. Lola Logan is borderline I would say, but Lacey Logan and Laila Logan are acceptable. I'm not mad keen on any of these myself but I wouldn't raise an eyebrow at a Lacey Logan or a Laila Logan for alliteration's sake. I hope this helps.

thanks so much, maybe a middle name would also soften the blow!

Not a fan of alliteration myself but think that you should go with the name you both love.

Not keen on Lola either sorry makes me think of "her name was Lola, she was a showgirl" and the song by the Kinks.

Lolo is what my DC call bfing.

A middle name between Lacey or Laila and Logan would be helpful (as long as it's not also L) but as it wont be used most of the time (think about it, how often when asked your name do you say your middle name too) then you probably still shouldn't go for Lola.

lolo

no way, don't do that. that is slang for tits in France. Please don't.

Alliteration wouldn't put me off. Lydia Logan eg sounds good.

"she walked like a woman and talked like a man" is all I think of when I hear the name Lola! Don't know why it's become so popular.

And don't like alliteration either, sorry!

Sorry to say this (really I am Blush)...but IMO you could be walking a very thin line with regards to making your DD sound well a bit cheap..I think one needs to be very careful when dealing with alliterations.

I don't dislike your name suggestions, but for a first name maybe something with a bit more grit, since your surname is so strong. And I think Lola (did you know it means sorrow??) and Lacey will date.

Louise / Louisa
Lauren
Laura
Lily
Lucy

Or

Alexandra nn Lexi
Elizabeth nn endless amounts, Lizzie, Libby etc
Charlotte nn Lottie. I also know as Lola who's full name is Charlotte..?

Wonder if this has helped...?

Good Luck either way. Smile

I think if you're going to use alliteration, then it sounds best if it's different from the surname in other ways, e.g. different number of syllables, and not rhyming or nearly rhyming.

Louisa Logan as suggested by Highlandgirl sounds lovely :)

Larissa Logan
Lydia Logan
Lucinda Logan

SilkStalkings · 20/02/2011 19:55

3 Ls is a bit too much so I say no to Lola and Laila. And Lacey Logan sounds far too pornstarrish - Lucy far less so.

Lyra
Lara
Lena
Leonora (Lennie for short?)
Lori

Didn't know that Valium. Ever likely we got a few funny looks in France when DS was a baby and shouting for his Lolo Grin
