Names like Elizabeth?

Both DH & I love Elizabeth but DH has a mild lisp (it's sexy Wink ) and most of my family can't pronounce 'th'.

So we're thinking of something that is as beautiful & classic as Elizabeth with many nn options but that preferably doesn't have an 's' or a 'th'.

If you like Elisabeth, how about Eliza?

Trinaluce · 17/02/2011 19:31

My baby name book suggests these as alternatives for Isabella (which is a variation of Elizabeth):

Allegra
Angelica
Arabella
Clementina (honest!)
Eliana
Gabriella
Julietta
Liliana
Mirabella
Raffaela
Tatiana

(I've taken out any that had s's)

FWIW I love Liliana - or even the simpler Lillian

Ishbel?

I think Victoria and Alexandra (is the "z" sound okay with a lisp?) are the most similar - classic, ageless, four syllables :)

Alexandra has tons of nn potential, Victoria probably limited to Vicky or Tori.

Or what about...
Caroline
Francesca (could be tricky depending on lisp)
Anne
Maria
Emma
Eleanor

Variations on Mary/Maria?
e.g
Marianne
Mariella
Marianna
Marion

Or...Annabelle?

Or Victoria/Alexandra/Charlotte good too.

Alice?

Can't you still use Elizabeth but maybe give her a nickname? Such as Lizzie, Betty or Beth?

It's such a beautiful name.

Also how about

Caroline
Annabelle
Jennifer
Georgina
Laura
Marianne
Susannah

Alice not good with a lisp.

I am an Alice. I had a lisp. Always called myself Ali, much to my parents' disgust.
