Isabella and May

I am expecting twins this Summer and, if they are both girls, was thinking of these names. Do you think May sounds a bit short with Isabella. DH thinks I'm being daft, it doesn't matter, but I thought other mums might have a view?

I think they are both really nice names. I dont' think I'd call a child May if she was born in July though.

AllieW · 10/02/2011 11:12

I think they go really well together and are beautiful. If you do worry about them not being born in May you could always alter the spelling to Mae.

flower38 · 10/02/2011 11:17

I would go with Mae if born in July think its lovely.

MelinaM · 10/02/2011 11:19

..there's Mai tooSmile Both lovely names! x

AllieW · 10/02/2011 11:21

Mai is pronounce My, though, isn't it? (The only one I've met pronounced it like that anyhow!).

claustrophobicclown · 10/02/2011 11:36

Thanks for the opinions. Really appreciate it. Glad you don't think they sound too long-short.

I like long and short together, DH sister's are twins and they have something similar.

I like the spellings May and Mae, but not Mai.

I have twin dds, one called Isabella and the other has a two-syllable name. I like the contrast, and chose their names because they were family names and I love them. I didn't worry if they 'went' together - they're individuals after all, not half of a pair.

MelinaM · 10/02/2011 20:07

^Absolutely agree, a friend of mine has 4 year old twin girls: Sienna and Sophia, same letter, same syllables, same matching outfits!!! Arghhhh!!!

BelligerentGhoul · 10/02/2011 20:13

I love Isabella and like May but tbh think May is better as a middle name. Tbh I think they'd be lovely together.

BelligerentGhoul · 10/02/2011 20:13

That made no sense at all. Although I PREFER May as a mn, Isabella and May sound good together for two separate children too! :)

growing3rdbump · 10/02/2011 20:15

I really like the names Isobel and May, but Isabella is nice too. Would you shorten it to Izzy or Bella? I dont think it matters that child is not born in May at all.

cheapFlower · 10/02/2011 20:47

I think they Isabella and May go really nice together. I like it that they aren't "twinnish" - I know quite a number of twins whose names are really very similar in lengh/style/first letter etc and I think two really contrasting names are much better - after all your kids are individuals ;-)

QuestionNumber · 10/02/2011 22:22

They're both lovely names.

How about Isabel and Maya if you wanted the names to be a more similar length?

hormonalmum · 11/02/2011 22:01

Lovely names- dd1 and dd2 middle names!
