Am so undecided about name for our baby girl who is due any day. Thinking of Freya, Isla, Sienna or Darcy? Am worried that Freya and Isla might be like the "Ruby" thing in 2006 and be ridiculously popular. Any thoughts?

I think they're all frequently used: there are a lot of Freyas aged about 10 but then it faded for a bit. There are a lot of Siennas throughout primary years, and continuing. Not quite so many Darceys. I know only one Isla (age 6).

I like Sienna best from your list. I've never met anyone called Sienna! Isla is nice, though popular. Not keen on Freya (even though it seems more popular than ever) or Darcy.

Guacamole · 09/02/2011 20:14

All four of them are popular... I prefer Freya out of all of them.

In order of preference Isla Freya Sienna Darcy

kreecherlivesupstairs · 10/02/2011 11:41

For me, it would be Freya, Isla, Sienna and Darcy a long way behind.
I've got a Ruby but she's a 2001er.

shouldnotbehere · 10/02/2011 11:48

In order of preference:

  1. Freya
  2. Sienna
  3. Isla
  4. Darcy

All good names though

Freya and Isla are very nice. Have met one of each. Darcy just screams Pride and Prejudice at me, sorry.

jellybeans · 10/02/2011 12:24

There are 3 Darceys at the toddler group I go to. I am not too keen on it to be honest, not sure why.
Out of the others I prefer Sienna but all are OK.

3timesalady · 10/02/2011 16:40

Freya is so classy. Love that.

MelinaM · 10/02/2011 20:03

Love Freya, I don't know of any of those, Darcy's a beautiful name tooSmile

Thanks to Miss Miller, Sienna is extremely popular at the mo, I know of 3 ranging from 18 months to 5 years. Isla is also high in the popularity rankings, but a beautiful name nonetheless! Hmm ..it's a tough one! x

medoitmama · 11/02/2011 14:02

Was redirected to this thread from another thread as I have a Freya (4) and an Isla (2). Both gorgeous names Wink. I quite like Darcy and Sienna is nice too. Reckon you can't go wrong wth any of the 4 names. They all have a beautiful sound to them imo.

medoitmama · 11/02/2011 14:39

BTW, although Freya and Isla are higher on the top 100 government stats baby names, (21 and 30 respectively) They have only moved up 6 places whereas Sienna is at 49 I think but has moved up 12 places so could quite easily overtake. I'd just pick your fave name and hope there's not another in their class!

Oh, also pick a nice middle name. There is another Freya in my Freya's class and me and the other mum has requested that they are referred to using their middle names as opposed to their sir names.

Let us know what you go for!

teobaldo · 11/02/2011 19:16

I love Freya and i only know another one so i do not think it is extremely common

SarahScot · 11/02/2011 19:58

I know 2 Freya's under 2, 2 Darcey's age 1 and 3, no Sienna's or Isla's.

Isla and Sienna are both on my list too . . . mind you, my list changes every few days. Naming babies is too hard!

TransatlanticCityGirl · 11/02/2011 23:04

My absolute fave is Isla but you may be right, there will probably be many Islas born this year.
