Section booked for 2 weeks today (yipee), having a last minute girls name wobble (we don't know what we're having), thought we would go with Eliza, now thinking Florence??

Has the fact David Cameron used it made it more or less popular?

We have 2 boys (Edward & James) so if this is a girl we would like somthing feminine and pretty....

I love Eliza.

Never liked Florence as makes me think of Magic Roundabout character.

Though if you like it use it, I've not heard of any other Florences since David Cameron used it.

tummytickler · 08/02/2011 10:31

I prefer Eliza. I think it is stunning with your boys names, very classic and elegant.
Florence is really popular here, I know at least 5 , but I don't think the Camerons will have influenced the Florence trend either way.

Edward, James and Eliza are fab together though.

AllieW · 08/02/2011 10:32

I like them both. Eliza Florence would be lovely.

QuestionNumber · 08/02/2011 10:32

I prefer Florence.

Pasiphae · 08/02/2011 10:56

Eliza over Florence, easily!

DesertOrchid · 08/02/2011 11:01

I used to love the name Florence but the more I say it the more it sounds like 'flounce'...

I think it is on the rise.

Fourleaf · 08/02/2011 11:07

Prefer Eliza. Cameron would put me right off Florence...
Eliza Florence is nice.

Fourleaf · 08/02/2011 11:09

Oh, meant to say that I think, as it's currently fairly unusual, Cameron's use of Florence will bring it more into the mainstream, and thus it will become more, rather than less popular. (See also the Blairs and Leo.)

HettyAmaretti · 08/02/2011 11:09

Eliza over Florence any day. Would it be nn for Elizabeth?

HettyAmaretti · 08/02/2011 11:10

Oh, Cameron and (potential) popularity wouldn't put me off Florence, 'tis just a bit frumpy and lump IMHO.

Secretwishescometrue · 08/02/2011 11:16

Love Eliza! Much much nicer imo. Altho i knew a Florance who was always known as Florry which i thought was lovely, would not like Flo as a no though...

freya2010 · 08/02/2011 11:34

Eliza!

Highlandgirl · 08/02/2011 11:41

I'm also due in 2 weeks with our first and we're got Eliza and James on our list...!!

I love Eliza and since you have an Edward you can save on name tapes...not a good reason..but hey Grin

Also really love Florance, but how do you feel about having Flo as a NN??

Have you picked a boys name yet, just in case??

Celia76 · 08/02/2011 18:11

Thank you all. You're confirming my feeling that Eliza is the name to go for (IF we have a girl!). Part of the problem is that DH is so convinced it's another boy (which would be fab by the way!), he doesn't see the point in discussing girls' names.....

Sticking with Eliza....

Eliza is lovelySmile x

Can I be cheeky and ask what your boys' names are (for no. 3)?

I only ask because I simply cannot think of anything suitable. We're not finding out this time round (no. 3, already have two DDs). I'm completely sorted for girls' names and, bizarrely, have come up with lots of ideas this time around but boys' names elude me.

Sorry for thread hijack Grin.
