I vote anything but Alexa.

fragglerocks · 28/01/2011 12:20

Oooh I love all of your names, except maybe Alexa, I know an Alexa who isn't very nice so I think it's put me off!

Florence I love shortened to Florrie or Flossie

Eva I love but it's very popular, dont know if that would be a problem for you.

Livinia is very pretty and unusual

Good luck!

going · 28/01/2011 12:20

Florence, the others are harsh.

Cakesandale · 28/01/2011 12:26

Not lavinia - what would it get shortened to??

Cakesandale · 28/01/2011 12:27

I've never heard of Livinia (with an I not an A)

nelliek · 28/01/2011 12:29

Was thinking....
Livana - Liv
Florence - flossie
Alexa - Lexi
Eva - probably eve and yes the popularity is putting me off this one.
I do really like Liv as a short name and Olivia but i feel its just too common. The other name I came up with for Liv, was Livarna but people have said too harsh x

Liv is nice.

cluccles · 28/01/2011 12:53

Livinia is nice
Florence also nice but increasing in popularity
Not that keen on Alexa - it's a bit Dynasty for me
I used to like Eva but I am SO over it now, they are everywhere

cluccles · 28/01/2011 12:54

so in conclusion, out of your list I would choose Livinia, Liv for short

marriedtoagoodun · 28/01/2011 14:25

My goddaughter is Lavinia and yep it does get shortened to Lavvi but is surprisingly non-offensive and quite sweet (mind you she is gorgeous Grin). It is a beautiful name!

rachel1970 · 28/01/2011 14:41

Livinia/Liv/Livvy is lovely!Alexa is ok, not as feminine imo and I'd avoid Eva and Florence due to their popularity.

NadiaWadia · 28/01/2011 14:44

Eva is lovely. Very popular just now, though.

Alexa quite nice.

Livinia - did you invent this spelling? Isn't it normally Lavinia? - anyway quite nice either way.

Florence no - Victorian and stodgy. Flora is nice, though.

NadiaWadia · 28/01/2011 14:50

Livia and Olivia are names that both give you the short form Liv.

Or just Liv (Swedish I think?) like actresses Ullmann and Tyler.

mathanxiety · 28/01/2011 14:51

Livinia looks made up. Most people would assume you couldn't spell Lavinia. Livarna is a bit strange.

If you don't like Olivia, how about Livia? Vivien is lovely too.

Florence is sweet but its nns are not nice imo (Florrie, Flo, Flossie)

Alexa is nice imo. But the nn Lexi is downmarket.

Eva is lovely and not the same as Evie that you hear everywhere.

Mrsfriend · 28/01/2011 14:52

What about Livia - shortens to Liv/Livy. I think Flora is a very pretty name too

Ooopsadaisy · 28/01/2011 14:57

Eva.

Don't like the others much.

Unwind · 28/01/2011 14:57

I vote Eva too

mathanxiety · 28/01/2011 15:04

I agree Florence is on the stodgy side of Victorian now that I think about it.

rachel1970 · 28/01/2011 15:09

The problem with Florence is also the lack of nice nicknames - Flo, Florrie, Encie Hmm

PlanetLizard · 28/01/2011 16:58

Alexa - sounds like a clothing brand, but I like Alexandra
Florence - lovely
Livinia - don't like
Eva - like but v. popular along with Eve/Evie/Ava. How about Evelyn or Evelina?

AllieW · 28/01/2011 17:02

I like Florence the best. Like others I look at Livinia and presume it's Lavinia misspelt (which name I don't particularly like since it has Lav in it).

John Peel's daughter is Florence (I think) - I believe he used to call her Flossy which is a sweet nn.

onimolap · 28/01/2011 17:06

I like Florence and Alexa best. Eva is OK.

Livinia looks like a typo for Lavinia.

pointydug · 28/01/2011 17:07

I like Alexandra shortened to Alex.

I like Eve.

ValLongstreet · 28/01/2011 17:10

I like Florence and Eva best

JojoMags · 28/01/2011 19:58

Florence or Eva
