Hi

My DH's father is called John, a fine name but I want something more unusual. Zane is a derivative of John but and i think it's a nice name but worry it's a bit of a chav name, what do people think?

I have never heard it so cannot attribute sorry, sounds nice though Smile

Mmm, too close to Wayne and Dane for my liking, which I see as chavvy, so yes IMO.

Sorry

Thanks for your opinion, this baby naming is tough, don't want to saddle the poor boy with a name I will regret later!

I don't see it as chavvy particularly but it doesn't really do much for me either. Sorry.

I think of Zane Grey, the author of westerns my Dad and Uncle used to like. I think it's ok.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/01/2011 20:14

I find I have to say it in a dramatic voice. Not keen.

deliakate · 27/01/2011 20:19

I don't think its chavvy, but I always say it in an Australian voice. Its ok, certainly not a wtf Shock name

AnnOnimous · 27/01/2011 20:21

Sounds chavvy in the Dwanye, Shane mould.

sorry.

If you like the Z, what about Zander?

SuitedandBooted · 27/01/2011 20:25

It does sound a bit made-up for my liking. If you want a similar sounding name, how about Xavier/Zavier?

I had a friend called this, and always thought it was a great, take-you-anywhere name. His NN was OK too, - Zave.

fluffygal · 27/01/2011 20:37

I think of Zane Low- radio 1 DJ. I think its edgy definitely not chavvy. My daughter is the female version, Zanna (derivative of Joanna-my name!)

JojoMags · 27/01/2011 20:53

Fraid it's chavvy imo, and doesn't sound like a real name. In fact I always thought Zane Low was a nn invented for radio [sceptical].

clam · 27/01/2011 21:00

Don't do it!

Tolalola · 27/01/2011 21:37

That's a risky one, I think. I'd steer clear.

RMCW · 27/01/2011 21:40

not great IMHO

banjomanjo · 27/01/2011 21:57

Zane Lowe. Like it
