Really struggling with a girls name, dh and I have both liked the sound of Georgia - what do you think, honestly!?

It's lovely, I like it :)

Hedwig3 · 27/01/2011 12:46

Not for me.

Quite a few people have discussed it favourably on here lately though.

WildOne12 · 27/01/2011 15:57

I think it's lovely and is what we're considering if we have a girl. The only thing is I hate Georgina so will have to make sure that people don't think that's what it's short for!

elseIlltellyourfather · 27/01/2011 15:58

much prefer Georgina actually, and it is much less common (popular common) and more english sounding.

LouMacca · 27/01/2011 16:46

Absolutely love Georgia. Classy and under used.

Where I live Georgina is far more common, I know several.

LetThereBeRock · 27/01/2011 17:18

It's gorgeous.

MackerelOfFact · 27/01/2011 17:28

Not mad keen personally. Reminds me of the former soviet state.

kensworth · 27/01/2011 17:46

it lovely and unusual without being odd good choice

friedeggs · 27/01/2011 18:16

Lovely name it was on my list til I found out I was having a boy, I think it's a timeless classic which won't date.

AllieW · 27/01/2011 18:18

Not keen. Principally because I don't like girls' names which are merely prettified boys' names - I prefer girls to have names in their own right.

GrimmaTheNome · 27/01/2011 18:20

Classy and under used.

My DD has two in her class...maybe its a classy class Grin
but then two of her best friends are a Georgina and a Giorgina

Thanks ladies, just back from the 20 week scan and it is a girl!!! Georgia looks like the front runner so far. Why is this so hard?!

Congrats! Despite my earlier comment, I do think it's a perfectly nice name and would imagine a Georgia to be sensible and reliable.

StarlightPrincess · 27/01/2011 21:44

Love it!

BarbieLovesKen · 27/01/2011 22:09

Lovely

LouMacca · 28/01/2011 20:47

Congrats!! I guarantee you will be back here for opinions on more names soon Wink

A1980 · 28/01/2011 23:18

It's ok. Nothing wrong with it. But it's quite a hard sounding name. Not very feminine and she'll just get called George.

onimolap · 28/01/2011 23:25

It's OK, but I prefer Georgiana.
