I know 3 adult Charlottes.

Hulababy · 23/01/2011 18:19

I don't know any children called Charlotte (none in DD's school (approx 90 girls) and none in my infant school (approx 135 girls).

I know of one adult Charlotte.

aliceelinsmum · 23/01/2011 19:17

I'm a Charlotte, and my daughter is called Alice, so you'd be the reverse of us

I don't know many little Charlottes. I think it was very popular about 7 or 8 years ago, so I do hear it a lot yelled at the supermarket.

I'd go with it :)

lalalonglegs · 23/01/2011 19:28

I don't think it is such a hot name - loads of other classics that are currently more popular: Emily, Harriet, Amy, Abigail, Hannah etc. I only know one child called Charlotte. It's a lovely name -adore Lottie - I wish I hadn't been so hung up on having culturally appropriate names otherwise it would definitely have been on my list.

christabell · 23/01/2011 19:46

I know one baby Charlotte aged about 18 months and my daughter is 2 so have encountered lots of children in last couple of years. Was surprised it is so high up the name chart as I have heard my daughter's name a lot more and it is significantly further down - may be a regional thing, I would imagine it is more common in south of England. Like someone said, I am Scottish and find it hard to pronounce, though it is a nice name.

cocoachannel · 23/01/2011 23:43

I only know one (me!). Apart from a bit of a teenage rebellion when I insisted on being called Charlie, I've always liked my name.

I go to Scotland about once a month for work and have never noticed the way my Scottish colleagues pronounce my name! I will listen out next time I'm up there...

MelinaM · 23/01/2011 23:51

I know 3 Charlotte's aged 23-27, and 4 little ladies named Charlotte all under the age of 3, plus there are 2 Lottie's!
It's a beautiful names, if you love it go with it! x

threefeethighandrising · 23/01/2011 23:53

Charlotte's a lovely name Smile

Plonker · 24/01/2011 00:54

Before I list how many Charlottes I know, can I just say that I think it's a beautiful name, and a names popularity shouldn't put you off - for every person who knows hundreds of them, there will be people who only know one or two.

Ok, here goes ...
2 - 15yo
3 - 11yo
1 - 7yo
1 - 4yo
and
1 - 3yo

plus a couple of adults

NW England

It's a lovely name with lots of nn potential

deliakate · 24/01/2011 10:49

I know/have known a few Charlottes, but they are all a spread of quite different ages. It seems to be a perennially popular name, which is a good thing - ie there were not loads in the 70s/80s and none now, or vice versa.

iwouldgoouttonight · 24/01/2011 10:54

I think its a beautiful name. I don't know any children called Charlotte, and only one adult. I chose a name for DS which I thought would be not too popular and now there are LOADS of them! So I'd choose a name you like rather than how popular it is.

hmmSleep · 24/01/2011 11:01

I've just called DD2 Charlotte, Lottie as a nickname, I only know 3 other children called Charlotte.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 24/01/2011 11:05

Around here lots of Charlotte & Lauren. Very popular across all demographics, but for very good reason, they are beautiful names. All 7 plus though the ones i know Smile

telsa · 24/01/2011 11:50

Beautiful name - I don't know any in North London (though I am sure there are some!)

LadyCLC · 24/01/2011 14:15

Hi I am Charlotte and I am 34, I only know one other Charlotte and she is 11. I have called my daughter Lottie, she is 4.5 yrs, and there are no other Charlotte's or Lottie's at her nursery or school & everyone comments what a lovely name Lottie is.

planetalice · 24/01/2011 17:18

Thanks everyone :) Charlotte is no 1 on our list now :)

Only met one Charlotte aged nearly 2 in 2 years of attending toddler groups, though have noticed some at soft play centres etc.

As someone else said I am surprised it is so far up as I have also encountered my daughter's name a lot more and it is further down the chart! Must be regional variation, probably more in south.
