Edward is by far the best boys name (I have an Edward, if you had not guessed!). My very good friend also has an Edward, surname Thompson!!

Stick with Edward!! I have a nearly seven year old one and I still think it's the best name ever - I have two other children and I often think 'I wish I'd named them xxx' but never with Ed.

Edward Thompson sounds great. Will you be having a middle name?

MrTeapot207 · 24/01/2011 14:17

Thanks everybody for your replies.

Hi PlanetLizard,

Yes, full name so far (if it's a boy?) to be Edward John Rowell Thompson. We have family reasons for wanting these names.

So pleased that so many people love Edward. (I have another thread also - Edward or Charles?) Not currently popular and it has been on the decline for the last century so hopefully there will not be too many Edward's about?

Edward is by FAR nicer than Charles IMO! Love it - would have used that if we hadn't already picked a name - great choice!

The full name fits really well :) I like the name Charles too, but don't think it flows so well as part of the full name you have in mind.

Lovely name, and I love the nn of Teddy too! x
