Which would you choose or some other ideas?

I love simple classic names and have always loved the name kate,Is it A bit boring and mature, not too keen on katie though?

Next fav is Lila/Lyla,quite a pretty, soft, feminine name, but I dont want to us both as according to friends it reminds them of kate moss?Hmm

Anyone suggest somthing similar

I love Kate, it's beautiful and not over used yet everybody knows how to pronounce it!

Not so keen on Lyla, prefer Isla which is similar souding but ultimately more popular at the minute which may or may not bother you. I personally think I'd go with Kate. I love it.

onimolap · 20/01/2011 20:10

I prefer Kate.

Lila reminds me of a make of chocolate called Lila-Pause (probably not something that's a common association!)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/01/2011 20:14

Kate for me.

PlanetLizard · 20/01/2011 20:17

Of the two I'd pick Lila, although I prefer Isla.

Not too keen on Kate.

muminthesun · 20/01/2011 20:18

oddbodd- I do like Isla but our last name starts with G,Isla G looks a bit wrong written together!

What middle name would go with kate, something longer? as we have short surname too.

i prefer Kate too, and also Katie...but you might find the name goes up a lot in popularity nexy year given the royal wedding

BarbieLovesKen · 20/01/2011 20:40

Kate is stunning (and is our definate name if this ones a girl).

Lila is lovely too, by the way but I love Kate.

sarken · 20/01/2011 20:42

I really like Kate & Katie.

Lila is nice & goes with Grace for a MN.

muminthesun · 20/01/2011 20:49

I also think Lila grace is nice but its kate moss daughters name so is probably quite common these days.

Kate Francesca?

Kate Isabella?

Kate olivia?

Lila Kate?

Lila Eve?

Also ds2 is Callum if that makes any difference to the choice,I know some people think sibling names should "go" together

I like the name Kate.

Rhubarbgarden · 21/01/2011 17:46

Prefer Kate. Lila is a bit bland.

JoanofArgos · 21/01/2011 17:48

I have a Kate and have always loved the name - classic etc. I think you should call her Katharine officially though, and then let her be known as Kate. That also broadens your options for middle names, I reckon.

Oh and I don't like Katie at all, but dd has very rarely been called it - only by dentists, or the odd teacher.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/01/2011 17:50

Lila sounds like sanpro. Don't.

FranSanDisco · 21/01/2011 17:51

I like Kate but prefer Lyla. Lyra is lovely as well.

muminthesun · 21/01/2011 19:29

what do we think of Lara? Still prefer Kate?
if we do go for kate any suggestions for middlename?

curiouscat · 21/01/2011 19:36

Isn't Lara a computer avatar? I like Lila better than Kate. But then I'm already sick of the royal wedding guff:)

ValiumSilverTongue · 21/01/2011 21:03

Even though I think Lila is a prettier sound I'm going to say Kate,

At the moment Leila, Lila, Lily, Ella, Ellie< Lola are all quite popular. I think that any one of them gets lost in among the rest of them.

So Kate definitely.

Wafflenose · 22/01/2011 17:44

Kate! I love it - my eldest is called Kate Alexandra. We didn't want to call her Katherine because we knew we definitely wanted her to be known as Kate, so decided to go with that. I wonder if it will become more popular later in the year? (Mine is 5 and it was an uncommon name then!)

pointydug · 22/01/2011 17:54

I like both

oddgirl · 22/01/2011 18:06

I too have a Kate and I love the name so would go for that-she is the only one in her year amongst all the Evas,Ellas Rubys and Evies. Beautiful name.

perpetuallypregnant · 22/01/2011 19:24

I love Kate but I am katie so would never use it.

My dad always calls me Kate :)

Lila is pretty too but I think of the 2 Kate won't date as it's a classic.

Firawla · 22/01/2011 20:18

they are both v nice, wouldnt go wrong with either but i prefer lila of the two. lyla is probably clearer spelling wise because i know some lila who say it leela
