I have a DD and DC2 is on the way, looks like a boy from the scan.
I love the name George but now will always think of Peppa Pig! Am I just being stupid?
fwiw we have quite a common surname. Will he end up being one of dozens of George xxxx in his class?

I like it, it's a classic but I don't think there are likely to be five in his class. Doesn't remind me of PP - Georgy Porgy maybe!

George is a great name and the only one I know is 11.

I know of four Georges born in the past year but they are all from different towns.

Lovely name. I would have liked to use it but doesn't go with our surname.

I'm tempted by George, but Asda has put me off.... that and Georgie Porgie. Still, it's a lovely name.

I love George, its my DS middle name.

I know three other Georges aged 3, 4 and 8.

George is a classic enough name for Peppa Pig not to make much difference.

Fantastic name! My son has another kings' name but it was a very, very, very close race with George (we didn't choose it in the end because it didn't go as well with our surname). I would still use it if I were to have another boy.

I was really pleased with myself when I looked at him for aaaaagggges for naming him such a cool name and we've only ever had good reactions from other people.

The pepper pig thing is actuay quite good as you can get loads of personalised stuff.. Ds got some peppa pyjamas from father Christmas with his name on the front [griN]

I don't think peppa Pig. It's a classic name so lots of other Georges rather than just Peppa Pig may spring to mind. think king or Clooney.

if you can find any nice clothes in asda you won't have to write the name in them.

there is no peppa pig in our house apart from a pair of 'george' pyjamas which rather confused him.

It's a lovely name, increasingly popular, really as it should be! That's the case with any classic boy's name.

My Ds 2 is a George, I love it!
You can't go wrong with a good, strong, timeless classic!

my George is nearly 14 - and it's as fab a name now as it was the day he was born. i watch PP now with his little sister and it barely registers that the little pig has the same name. Ds has certainly not had any comments about it. FWIW he was named after his grandad - so it's a name that easily spans the generations (states the obvious).

Don't worry about the p pig thing. What about all the millions of Thomas's (tank engine) and Sams (fireman) not to mention all the Harrys (potter)
If you love a name you should use it.
George is a classic.

I know a couple, adult and a child and they are both lovely, talented people who suit the name.

And, thatlldo, the great thing about them all is that they were all around since time began and well BEFORE any of the more recent examples you give... problem with some names is that they only get popular because of an association with a character or programme or whatever.

My George loves the fact that there are "big george's" around. If he meets an adult George, it really tickles him, makes him feel all grown up! Rather sweet.

I have a George, aged 14 now. When we chose the name (after one of his grandparents) I knew of no other Georges but then 3 of our NCT group had boys within 1 week of each other, all called George! We just laughed about it and call them George 1st, 2nd and 3rd and are still all friends.

He is now at High School, and one of 3 (different) Georges in his class, but they differentiate themselves by calling themselves George H, George W etc.

I think its a great classic name
