That's it really - first child. Middle name Scott after his dad.

No

MakemineaGandT · 11/01/2011 14:14

well, it depends what you think really - names are so personal. It isn't my cup of tea at all because I prefer traditional names, but that's not to say it's a horrid name - it's just that I would never choose it.

KERALA1 · 11/01/2011 14:15

I would never choose it either but its a personal choice. SOunds like one of those American surname type names which I dont like.

pamelat · 11/01/2011 14:28

Sorry I dont like it. Too American for me, unless you are American of course Blush

PlanetLizard · 11/01/2011 14:44

It's OK, not keen on surnamey names though.

sophiesmummie · 11/01/2011 14:47

I like the fact that it isn't as common and overused as many names on here. However, it isn't my favourite name in the world. But it depends on what you think - it is your baby.

boysnamesarehard · 11/01/2011 14:48

Just reminds me of 90210. The original. So a rather dated American name for me!

mathanxiety · 11/01/2011 15:08

I prefer Brendan, but there's a Mount Brandon in the Blackstairs Mountains in SE Ireland (not a very significant mountain but a German plane crashed into it in WW2) and another in Kerry on the Dingle Peninsula that's much higher, maybe one of Ireland's highest.

Deliaskis · 11/01/2011 16:20

Funny that everyone immediately thinks it's very American, as the first thing I thought of was the lovely Colonel Brandon from Sense & Sensibility. On that basis I would say yes go for it, but I can see that people feel that it's a 'surname-as-first-name' thing which I know not everyone likes.

I like it though!

D

PlanetLizard · 11/01/2011 16:26

I thought of Brandon Hill in Bristol.

MistletoeMush · 11/01/2011 16:33

I think it was popular a few years ago. I'm not keen on it though too surnamey.

CaptainNancy · 11/01/2011 16:34

Mr Flowers.... yum... yum... hmmmmmmmm.

BadPoet · 11/01/2011 16:39

Yep, Flowers.

CaptainNancy · 11/01/2011 16:40

I wouldn't name my child Brandon though... just to be clear!

livingonaprairie · 11/01/2011 19:12

Thanks everybody - I'm not particularly keen but DH is really up for it. We've got plenty of time yet though so I might be able to change his mind (I'd rather have Benjamin than Brandon...)

jellybeans · 11/01/2011 19:14

I like it.

WorzselMummage · 11/01/2011 19:14

It's very 90's.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/01/2011 19:16

Not fond sorry but I do like Scott.

Colonel Brandon is master of yumminess BUT it's his surname.

Bramwell?

PlanetLizard · 11/01/2011 19:17

Branjamin? :o

seeker · 11/01/2011 19:21

It's very....very... - can't bring myself to say the C word - round here. And there are hundreds of them. And usually I don't think people should care how popular a name is, so there really must be a lot in our area!

Anonymousbird · 11/01/2011 19:35

No.
Pamela Anderson.
Bleugh.
Need I say more.

marriednotdead · 11/01/2011 19:36

I have only ever known one Brandon- a loveable rogue and wonderful man. He died 2 years ago aged 65 Sad

Can't associate the name with a child yet.

Tolalola · 11/01/2011 19:38

Don't like it, sorry.

purepurple · 11/01/2011 19:41

I love the name and wanted to use it if DD had been a boy when she was born in 1996. DH didn't like it, as it is a village in Norfolk, near my home town. We decided on Lewis instead.

Rockmaiden · 12/01/2011 04:40

Well I am deeply offended lol.

One of my son's is named Brandon and I LOVE it, not american I might add.

I picked it as The Crow is one of my favourite films and so named my son after the actor Brandon Lee who stars in it.

I also don't like really common names, I hated being one of 4 Rebecca's in my class as a child.

So I am biased but you should DEFINATELY pick it as it is the BEST name for a little boy :)
