My 4 week daughter still nameless

My daughter is 4 weeks today and she still has no name Shock I look at her and try different names on her but none seem right.

Her daddy passed away 4 months ago and I wanted to name her after him in someway. His name was Ben (Benjamin David) and there arent any girls versions of that name! I don't want just initials (so like Bella) because I want it to be obvious that she is named after him. Any suggestions please??

think the idea of her initials spelling BEN is good also to have exactly the same initials as her father don't know the surname but B N ? Also think abigail which means father rejoiced is lovely also make her up a book about her dad with photos, but also maybe his driving licence scout badges exam results school reports if you have any of these or get her grandparents to do it for her etc I really wish you well with your DD

personally I would not do an unusual feminine version of a male name, I used to live in isle of lewis and knew lots of women with male names changed like donalda for donald murdina from murdo calina from calum even meet a malcolmina but what was always true was that they hated their names (even when they admired the person they were named after) and were called ina or nina instead,

some feminine versions are better and known as names in there own right like davina caroline

I agree Ben is good. Benni/Beni/Benny if you want to try and 'feminize' it a bit?

Benita, Benedicta and Jemima are all lovely. I don't think she'd thank you for giving her an overly male name, even if it does link her to her father.

Dara - I am very very sorry for your and your DD's loss. Just getting through each day is a big ask - don't stress yourself out about not having her name yet.

I like the idea of choosing something from his side of the family, rather than trying to use his name for a couple of reasons, but mainly because there's nothing you love - do you like his Mum's/Nana's names at all?

I really can't imagine how you must be feeling - life can be very cruel. I hope you find much joy in your DD and can make a happy life for you both x

Why don't you call her Bee? As in the letter B. B for Ben and B for Bee (it could officially be Beatrice or something similar)

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! Bella is a beautiful name, and I like the suggestion of Mina above, too.

You could try looking for names with significant meanings. I thought these two were quite pretty.

Abigail - 'my father is joy' (from Hebrew Avigail)
Adanna - 'father's daughter' (from Igbo)

I like Bella and Yasmin from some of the suggestions.
