BiscuitNibbler · 07/01/2011 15:34

Hideous. Sorry. It just sounds odd and people will assume you are pronouncing Cheryl incorrectly.

swanandduck · 07/01/2011 15:46

Oh no, don't do it. I would put it on a par with Marlene.

belgo · 07/01/2011 15:48

Sorry it looks dreadful (swanandduck - please don't compare it to Marlene - Marlene is a tradtional german name - think of Marlene Dietrich!)

Nightstar · 07/01/2011 15:51

It's French actually. There is a famous french singer called Cherelle and a famous french song.

rachxx · 07/01/2011 15:54

I dont think its that bad actually. Quite pretty and very under used

rachel234 · 07/01/2011 15:56

Marlene is gorgeous. Cherelle is ok.

Pipistrellina · 07/01/2011 15:56

Looks like a bad spelling of Cheryl to me (even if it's not you can't be explaining that every time you introduce her)

kizzibear · 07/01/2011 16:02

haha maybe not then!

MardyBra · 07/01/2011 16:06

sorry but my immediate thought was made-up and chavvy

ShoppingDays · 07/01/2011 16:16

I really like Cheryl, but not Cherelle.

BooBooGlass · 07/01/2011 16:18

Don't do it. It has chav written all over it

MistletoeMush · 07/01/2011 16:22

I think that you would often have to explain how to say/spell it. Also it reminds me of Cherie Blair and various Big brother contestants.

Grandhighpoohba · 07/01/2011 16:52

Sounds like a type of mushroom to me. Cherelles on toast?

maisydaisy77 · 07/01/2011 16:53

No don't like it at all, sounds very chavvy.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/01/2011 16:54

I know a Shirelle and she loves her name but has loads of problems with it, pronunciation and spelling. Half the time she's called Cheryl :o

Deciduousblonde · 07/01/2011 17:14

Not keen on it, sorry.

Although the only Cherelle I have heard of was a singer in the 80's, and she was/is American.

usualsuspect · 07/01/2011 17:16

I knew there would be loads of its chavvy replies before I even opened the thread

Its quite a pretty name I think

mathanxiety · 07/01/2011 17:32

Reminds me of the Chevy Chevelle, an older muscle car from the US.

mathanxiety · 07/01/2011 17:32

And girl groups of the 60s.

Alouiseg · 07/01/2011 17:37

As in Alexander O'neil featuring Cherelle singing Saturday Love?

stressheaderic · 07/01/2011 17:46

I taught a Cherelle a few years back. In the same class as Dion and Jayzon. Draw your own conclusions...

Deaddei · 07/01/2011 17:48

Horrible.
Sounds like someone on Jerry Springer

mangoandlime · 07/01/2011 17:51

I don't like it at all.

mathanxiety · 07/01/2011 17:53

More like The Shirelles.

NewYearNewPants · 07/01/2011 17:54

I used to love the name Shirelle....when I was 7 yrs old. I called one of my barbies Shirelle.

It's not a name I would choose for a human being.

tell you what, though,. Cherelle is better than Cheryl. I hate the name Cheryl. It's just so...downtrodden sounding and 80s.
