Going to have DD5!

Just found out that I am going to have a fifth DD and feeling a bit lost about names...

I was certain I was going to have a DS and we had decided on Clement Sherlock Nathaniel with Clem as a nn.... (I am into literature in a big way so couldn't resist slipping Sherlock in there somewhere)

Our DDs are called Louisa Sian Mathilde, Emmeline Cerys Isolde, Julia Estella Adele and Beatrix Evangeline Grace.

Please come up with some suggestions because I can't think of any other names I like!

I knew a Welsh girl called Nerina and always thought it was a beautiful name.

beachyhead · 06/01/2011 09:13

Claudia or Kezia perhaps...

Aims80 · 06/01/2011 11:00

Wilhelmina would go nicely with that lot! :)

Aims80 · 06/01/2011 11:02

Also if you like literary names then Viola and Cressida are also on my list.

mamaloco · 06/01/2011 11:05

Charlotte?

DozyDoll · 06/01/2011 11:21

Congratulations! Wonderful news. Has anyone suggested Meredith? I would have Meredith or Evelyn if ever I were to become pregnant again with a DD. Hope pregnancy goes well. Out of interest how old are your other girls if don't mind sharing that?

saffy85 · 06/01/2011 15:12

I was going to suggest Rosa (as in Parks) looks like others beat me to it!

Florence as Nightingale?

Marie (Curie)?

badkitty · 06/01/2011 15:58

For literary names, Elinor or Marianne would go nicely with your girls' names.

Love all their names by the way and love your idea of Sherlock as a middle name - may have to nick that if we are having DS2!

NewImprovedJollster · 06/01/2011 16:10

Clemency
Hope
Rosanna

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 06/01/2011 16:14

Elizabeth (Garrett Anderson/Fry/Gaskell/Barrett Browning)

Sojourner (Truth) - maybe best for a middle name :)

Virginia (Woolf)

Dorothy (Dodie Smith)

Mary (Wollstonecraft)

mathanxiety · 06/01/2011 16:32

Louisa Sian Mathilde
Emmeline Cerys Isolde
Julia Estella Adele
Beatrix Evangeline Grace

  • What gorgeous names and congratulations on your 5th DD. I have 4 and it's never a dull moment.

Clara Magdalena Araminta
(Clara Schumann, Anna Magdalena Bach, Harriet Tubman nee Araminta)

Mary Zora Angharad
(Mary Wollstonecraft, Zora Neale Hurston, Angharad, mother of Geraldis Cambrensis)

Willa Frances Charlotte
(Willa Cather, Frances Buss, suffragist and promoter of rigorous education for girls, Charlotte Bronte)

I love Aphra though.

FiveGirliesArgh · 06/01/2011 16:55

Wow! Thank you all for all your responses!

Me and DH have spoken and think we have it cut down to 4 possibilities:

Aphra Frances Elizabeth
Willa Constance Magdalena
Clemency Rosa Marie
Isadora Genevieve Nelle

What do you all think?

BTW DozyDoll Louisa is 10, Emmeline is 8, Julia is 6 and Beatrix is 3

It is going to be very exciting to have 5 DDs, I feel very Mrs Bennet like!

Clemency is gorgeous.

ShowOfHands · 06/01/2011 17:06

Oh I love all of them.

Aphra Isadora Constance.

or

Aphra Clemency Nelle
Grin

Willa's beautiful too. Having Rosa and Marie side by side doesn't work as it sounds like 'Rosemarie'.

FluffyDonkey · 06/01/2011 17:06

Clemence? (French)

Am so impressed at your having 5 girls and having named 4 of them! (We can't even decide on one girls name!)

mathanxiety · 06/01/2011 17:08

My favourites are

Aphra Frances Elizabeth (maybe Aphra Elizabeth Frances)
or
Willa Constance Magdalena (or switch Constance and Magdalena)

NewYearNewPants · 06/01/2011 17:10

Aphra is divine!

Not keen on Willa at all.

Clemency is a very hard name to carry, I really wouldn't.

Isadora - too fussy and just reminds me of strangled ballerina.

Louisa, Emmeline, Julia, Beatrix and...

Xenia
Luella
Selma (LOVE this)
Eugenia
Drusilla
Thora
Lillian
Cornelia
Ursula
Agatha
Ida

Rhubarbgarden · 06/01/2011 17:37

I love all your middle names, especially Constance Magdalena. Less keen on those first names though, sorry.

bambiandthumper · 07/01/2011 00:10

Aphra Clemency Nell is beautiful :)

mamaloco · 07/01/2011 06:36

the best is Clemency Rosa Marie but I prefer clemence to clemency.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 07/01/2011 07:21

I love Clemency Rosa Marie and Aphra Frances Elizabeth. Clemency is one of my favourite names though so I'd probably go for that.

Congratulations on all your DDs :) Beautiful names all round.

FiveGirliesArgh · 07/01/2011 20:26

We have got it definitely narrowed down to two now...

Aphra Frances Elizabeth (or Aphra Elizabeth Frances)
Clemency Rosa Marie (or Clemency Aphra Elizabeth which I quite like?)

We talked to the DDs today and got hardly any sensible suggestions (Fifi, Cinderella and Iggle from the younger DDs) but my DD1 suggested Elizabeth as a middle name so I do think I would quite like to get that in there somewhere!

pranma · 07/01/2011 20:35

I love Clemency and it would take Elizabeth Aphra as middle names

NewImprovedJollster · 07/01/2011 20:55

Hmmm, am concerned that Clemency is becoming more popular... it was to be MY name Grin. Well not mine obviously, but my DD.

Clemency Eliza would have been a future DD.

But you can have Clemency too :).

Avocadoes · 07/01/2011 21:03

I really don't like Aphra. I am not sure why. Your other DDs have lovely classic names. I know it isn't, but Aphra sounds made up to me.

Clemency is much nicer. As are most of your middle names. Of all the names on this thread my fav is Nina.
