No? I like it.

Highlandgirl · 03/01/2011 17:56

The only Bonnie I know is Scottish and has very very red hair....!!!

Highlandgirl · 03/01/2011 17:57

Not really keen..but for that red head it works Grin

xkatyx · 03/01/2011 18:08

This is my 3rd baby and so far no red heads, so no exspecting a red head.

I thought it sounded nice with my 2 kids names James, and Lilly.

Oh im running out of time

Bonnie's a lovely name.

ManateeEquineOhara · 03/01/2011 19:23

It does go with your other DCs names too. I would just ignore the people who say negative stuff :)

Nightstar · 03/01/2011 19:23

James and Lily? You have to call it Albus!

Sarsaparilllla · 03/01/2011 19:25

I like it, cute :) is it short for something though?

gingerwench · 03/01/2011 19:26

I know a red-haired Bonnie. Always reminds me of a Blue Peter dog though sorry!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 03/01/2011 19:26

I think it's gorgeous. DH vetoed it for our second dd unfortunately.

GeraldineAubergine · 03/01/2011 19:27

My cat is called bonnie. Bonnie snitterton.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 03/01/2011 19:27

Bonnie means pretty north of the border as you probably know - names which require the bearer to live up to their name always make me slightly nervous Wink

tebbles · 03/01/2011 19:40

I think Bonnie is very nice.

People have their own reasons for turning up their noses so don't listen to them. I know if I discussed my name choices with others I would end up with no names on my list!

It is a lovely name that goes well with James and Lily.

I also don't think of red hair when I hear it.

Ooosha · 03/01/2011 20:03

I new a Bonnie she hated her name so much she legally changed it! Apparently at school people used to sing a song something about Bonnie and the sea/over the sea something like that. Your baby might love it though Smile

Maelstrom · 03/01/2011 20:05

I have known many Bonnies, but none was called Bonnie, they all were called Yvonne and used Bonnie as a nickname.

blametheparents · 03/01/2011 20:08

FWIW - I know 3 dogs called Bonnie.

nextchapter · 03/01/2011 20:28

LOVE it

JamieLeeCurtis · 03/01/2011 20:29

I love it

Maelstrom · 03/01/2011 20:30

Funny that you said that... my dog is named as Bonnie in her pedigree papers... the other one is Sonnie. Imaginative breeder? not!

JamieLeeCurtis · 03/01/2011 20:31

It can be short for Bonita

roundthehouses · 03/01/2011 20:33

= dog for me. its like word association. i saw your thread title "Bonnie" and just immediately went "dog".

But like everything what some people love other people will hate - you are not going to please everyone nor should you even be interested in doing so. So if you like it, go for it. Even if people hesitate when you first tell them the name, before you know it that will just be her name and they won´t think of anything else.

my parents definitely were dubious about his name but now (only 3 yrs later) deny all knowledge of ever even hinting at any negativity and say it is perfect for him.

orangutangerine · 03/01/2011 20:36

It makes me think of Bonnie Langford, i.e. annoying stage school brat. Sorry! (But younger MNetters may not remember her so feel free to ignore Smile.

BarbieLovesKen · 03/01/2011 20:40

I love it. Immediately I think of Scarlett O'Haras daughter in Gone with The wind. Unusual and a little daring too - but not stupid or ridiculous daring, if that makes sense.

Goes so well with James and Lily too.

Fabulous!! go for it!!

ValiumTinselton · 03/01/2011 20:41

I love it, but I don't think I would want it on a birth cert. It sounds cute and a bit cool now. So your young child would have a great name. But I wouldn't want a cutesy but dated name at 55.

What about Belinda or Beatrice Nell, or Beatrice Niamh? There would be loads of things that would 'explain' the nn Bonnie.

spidookly · 03/01/2011 20:43

do not like, sorry

it's an adjective
