Dh and I are thinking of Audrey (amongst others) but I would shorten it to dee as a Nn if necessary. Dh hates it an says she would not been known as anything other than Audrey. Is disagree and hate Aud! What would you shorten it too?

Nothing. Keep it as Audrey forever. It's a wonderfully classy name. Love it.

beautiul name as it is (my wonderful Nana's name who passed away in July)

whensitgunnahappen · 29/12/2010 20:43

Thank you. I love it too. I'm worried it will get natural shortened and wanted to have something ready before she becomes "aud". Didn't think dh would go for it but he loves it! Result.

Just Audrey. Dee is awful. It does not need a nickname, and it would never occur to me in a million years to create on for an Audrey (they way I might with Eleanor, or Margaret for example)

westlake · 29/12/2010 21:20

i wouldn't worry about nick names, you will have very little control over them anyway. I don't like Audrey much but LOVE Dee.

My mum is an Audrey. My grandma picked this name as she didn't like nicknames and thought it would be impossible to shorten... and it never has been.

Audie! Love it. Ideally it won't be shortened but when she's little I'm guessing it will naturally happen. Audie is cute. Thanks xxx

i know a grown up aud....really cool. i like it. audie is lovely for a little girl, but looks a bit too much like audi when written....

i find that nicknames sort of develop with your children, rather than being made iykwim?

Amapoleon · 30/12/2010 09:49

I know one Audrey and she is shortened to Aud, which she hates.

boodleboot · 30/12/2010 11:09

I have a baby Alice and really ummed and ahhhed about what pre-emptive nickname she should have so i understand where you are coming from with Audrey but as others have said a nickname really does just evolve and for the most part you just have to go with it.....(hence we have an Alicebear....didn't see that one sticking!!) Bear

Audrey is a v cute name and you should def go with it....

Lonnie · 30/12/2010 11:10
